Hit by Alberta driver

I got sideswipped bu a senior Albertain driver in which my bushbumper clearly did more damage to his $60,000 truck than it did to mine. Anyways he admits its his fault... I called icbc and they said since I dont have collision they cant help me with my claim. Whats this supposed to mean?? They set me up an apointment at the icbc office but I dont see what for since they arent going to fix anything. How do I go after him??? I dont have much damage aside from a bent tie-rod, few deep scratches and took off my side molding... I still wouldnt mind getting it fixed since I didnt cause the damage.

quit your whining and fix your tie rod yourself? Takes about an hour, piss easy really. Its probably easier than trying to sue somebody for such petty damage? Just my two cents...

You need his info and his insurance carrier. His AB insurance will cover it. I went through this with a Washington person.

Berz out.

Go see what ICBC has to say. ICBC will determine who is at fault for the accident. If you are deemed not to be at fault for the accident, I think (not sure though) ICBC may still authorize the repairs and then go after the other parties insurance for reimbursement through a process called subrogation. If you need to go after the other party personally at least you could give them the ICBC case number for reference.

when you don't have collision, it means that if it's YOUR FAULT then you aren't covered for your car, but the car you hit is.

since he admitted fault, you should be covered. it dosen't fall under your insurance coverage, it falls under his. You need to make a claim to his Alberta insurance company.

I have his plate number and his name etc... but I dont know which insurance company he is insured thru and I can not get ahold of him. I had an apointment with icbc today and I've got a grand damage or so... looks like im going to keep on trying him.

Yes, insurance in Alberta is a lot cheaper.

However... if he gets into an accident, he's gonna have to make sure he can justify why he drives a car with Alberta insurance when he lives and works here. I believe even for those people that relocated here from Alberta, they have to change their insurance to BC after one year... if they don't, and they get into an accident, they could very well deny your claim.
