Summer Tires, When do you put them back on?

Hi, i was wondering when you guys put your summer tires back on?

I don't want to rush it. but i mean i hate my stock wheels.

I'm hoping there isn't anymore snow.

It can snow as late as March so I would wait until at least March. Besides winter tires are better in the rain than your summer's most likely and there is going to be a lot of rain before there is sun.

Berz out.

I don't have any for my car yet, but I'm buying some Tenzo R DC-5s with some summer rubber for April. Like Berz said, March can still (and usually does) have some shitty weather.

Typically late March, early April is when I'll swap my summers back on.

March/April for me....basically when the temperature holds above 6 or 7 degrees. Summer rubber needs warmer temps for good grip.

yep, temperature is key. when the average temperature dips below 7 degrees then throw on your winters, when it rises back up then throw the summers on.

as general rule you can swap your tires around easter and again around thanksgiving.

^ Your not going to damage the compound of your summers. Technically speaking they will last longer as the compound hardens. The same will happen with winters, using them in warm weather will generally wear them out faster.

I'm driving on my summers right now and was driving on them as soon as the snow melted

Of course it helps that if it does snow I can drive a different car...

I don't think street radials regardless of performance need a heat cycle or need it to be above a temperature to go around the lower mainland... unless they're all hat racing to their destinations

i was driving on my summers as soon as the snow melted too....just put the summer tires back on if you really hate your stock wheels. just don't drive when it snows. if you're a relatively good driver, even lots of rain shouldn't be a problem for summer tires.

dont forget about all the gravel and salt that are just itching to tear into your fancy summer wheels. and you think theres a pothole problem now with 60+ series winter tires? wait untill you get those 40 series or lower profile tires on there

I only run all-seasons (3 seasons) and snowies. I'll be switching back when I'm done snowboarding for the season.

That is a good point since it can wreck your summer rims.

ask ICBC

I heard they have some sort of standard when they consider summer and winter. If you wear summer tires during winter, you might not get your insurance covered so make sure to check with ICBC when to change them.
