Farting Dog

ok, my GSD is approaching 3 years old. he has his regular ration of food once per day and goes for runs and multiple walks daily.

Ever since we switch him to adult kibble, he farts like no tmml. I didn't mind it that much but he sleeps with me at night now. And now this is a problem. it get so stinky than he himself request to go out of the room sometimes.

I don't know if this is a behavior issue, but he seems to know that how much we hate the stinkyness. he will sometimes go in a room with ppl just to fart and than leave.

or it could be a diet problem? my family has weak minds and yes the dog does get some leftover bones from dinner and soap occasionally.

this is becoming a problem when i'm in getting busy with my girl and he has to come into the room let out a big fart and ruin it all.

I remember when I gave my dog "Nutrience", and he farted really bad. It was a good thing it was samples, otherwise we'd be stuck with a huge bag full. My dog is on the Kirkland brand dog food from Costco, it was recommended by his breeder, and he seems to be doing fine. Maybe its the scraps your dog is getting. Supposedly, scraps are bad because dogs can get fat and can be dangerous (cancer/diabetes/etc?), that's what my friend said.

Try a different food, different brands effect dogs differently. I don't know a lot about the different brands, I think Innova has no fillers which is a good thing. Try a different brand also with no fillers and see if it helps.

I know when my dog was on puppy food he was nasty. He's been better on adult food but there are still times when he reeks. Maybe try Technical Natural blends or something like that?

I would suggest trying another kibble. Try something that is simple in ingredients. Personally I would recommend trying Go Natural (chicken + rice) its an all age food.
I use to have a Boston and they are known for wicked house clearing gas. When I switched her over the gas became less smelly and the frequency was almost zero.
foods that are rich, or have alot of fish based ingredients can give some dogs more gas then usual.

My aunt had a dobie who used to fart and stink up the entire house... I think they were eating kibbles n' bits? Can't remember... she never took my advice to change the kibble though. And these dogs were never fed scraps from the table. Strictly dog kibble only.

Healthy leftovers, i.e. people food, is good to give, but cooked bones can be dangerous to them. Raw is fine. It probably has nothing to do with the gas, but I thought I should point that out anyway.

If this started happening when you switched to adult food, I would guess that it's diet-related as well. I know my cat used to have really bad gas when he was fed duck-based foods and he was fine when I stopped giving him duck. It's probably a certain ingredient in Innova.

i got two shepherds and they both got gas. sometimes they fart loud and you can hear it across the room. they just look at me like nothing happend.

our one dog use to be farily bad so we switched foods and its alot better now. we just to also mix wet food with dry food and we stopped mixing with wet and it helped alot.

all humans fart. all dogs fart, its normal.

and yes, dog farts are RANK.

and just like people, when you have a nasty fart, its time to drop some timbers. my dogs are the same way.

My poor little Shih Tzu has had bad gas lately. the veggie blend I did to feed for the raw diet has alot of veggies that create gas. I have to get some other veggies chopped up and add to the blend. It was so bad one evening that you could hear his little tummy rumbling and gurgling. Time to pull out the food processor again.

our lab lets one go once in awhile, but we've never actually heard her let one rip...but she knows when she does, even when she's sleeping. She would open her eyes and wait for reaction. The smell would travel across the room and we'd clear out, even her.
