| As Promised - My 1973 Vespa 90!
Hey folks,
As promised, I would have a picture up showcasing a new addition to my collection of scooters and cars. This time around, it's a 1973 Vespa 90!
I saw this beauty on Craigslist listing for $2000. I contacted the seller and went to see it and instantly fell in love with it. The entire frame and accessories are all original, including the motor, which was fully rebuilt with OEM parts from Piaggio Italy in 2006. Prior to owning this, I had a 2005 Honda Jazz, a 1983 Vespa P200E, and a 2006 Yamaha Vino.
This Italian beauty fires up on the first kick and purrs like a kitten and rides like new. The Vespa 90 is one of the many small frame Vespas that they ever released and to my knowledge, was only ever sold in Europe and the United States so this is definitely not native to Canada. The Vespa 90 is a 3-speed manual 90cc motor with a Dell'orto carb and plenty of stroker kit options available.
Since she's over 25 years old, she qualifies for collectors plates which I will be applying for. My other Italian beauty includes a 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider. Say hello to my Ace!
***Big thanks goes out to GFunk again for the awesome photos!***

Rode it from my house down to the South Main area. Was quite a fun ride and definitely a lot faster.
I have to practice my shifting though.

its amazing how very old motor cycles and scooters last so long and run so well compared to old cars, i guess less stress

I don't even know where to start. Vespa 90 compared to Jazz? I'll try. Here goes! (Not in any particular order) Pros
1. Faster on acceleration
2. Higher top speed
3. 3 speed manual (depending on how you see it)
4. Can have a passenger
5. Classic look
6. Bigger carb
7. 2-stroke motor allowing upgrade options to make it go faster
8. Classic/retro design
9. Full metal monocoque frame. No plastic pieces.
10. Parts are cheap
11. You can fix everything yourself with very basic and cheap factory tools Cons
1. Slightly heavier and harder to control (not as nimble as the Jazz)
2. Pollution/smelly
3. Pre-mix oil with gas all the time
4. Kickstart only - no electrical start.
5. Requires more maintanence (in every possible way)
6. No storage space
7. No security - There's only a steering column lock haha
8. Parts are not available locally (cuz every Vespa dealer here only concentrates on newer models)
9. My speedo is in MPH
10. You need a Class 6 license
11. Your clutch and throttle cable are prone to snapping
That's all I can think of right now. I still like the Vespa over the Jazz. The Jazz got boring very quickly, was slow, and it being a 4-stroke, not much to be done.

It's a 1 cylinder, 90cc 2-stroke motor. There's no oil pump hence why you need to pre-mix the gas.
