i screwed my phone up
 

I have a sony ericson w580i

it froze on me while i was setting up my alarm

i tried to switch it off, press all the buttons but my screen still froze

so i took out the battery pack
and put it back in

and now i cant even turn on my fone

bad idea lol

i called one of the places to repair my fone and he said its a program issue and i need to repair it for $25. is that a rip? what should i do or where can i get cheaper?

does sony ericsson canada provide warranty for the w580i?
i had a w810i long time ago and had the same problem
they eventually replaced it for me but that took a while

i'd just repair it for $25. probably a firmware update fix etc. you get it back probably the same day

You can attempt a reflash by yourself.
The usual risks apply when messing around with your phone's firmware.

yeah ill probably pay but dam $25 is still a lot cuz u know im just a student still

my friend did a firmware update and reflash his rogers W580i so now it can display chinese, he said it wasnt hard, takes about 15 minutes to do it urself.

before you shell out the $25, try talking to Rogers/Sony and see what they say...if it sounds like they're cool, get them to fix it for free...if they sound like they're going to give you the runaround, cave and pay the $25 :)

I would do what RCubed suggested and try to reflash it yourself first. Cheaper than the full fix and you don't even have to leave the house. :lol

First of all, I don't know where you come up with my mom giving me money, I guess you are just upset that your mommy doesn't give you shit. Second, I probably earned more money when i was 24 then you ever would in your life time. at least I don't have trouble trying to shell out $25 to fix a $0 contract price phone LOL.... in fact I could easily just throw my old phone in the garbage and buy something new. :haha:
