on the box it says 7 day voice guided navi. what does that mean? the gps is only a trial and you'll have to pay for the service?

The 7 day trial is only for the voice guided Nokia based gps set up. It's free to use the normal non voice guided GPS. You need a program like TomTom or Garmin if you want to stay away from a subscription based gps service.
