240sx Specific. For Obvious reasons.
This thread:
- Is by no means the be all end all for fitment
- Is Not the be all end all for maximum tire
- Is Not the perfect Tire Fitment guide
- Is Not the perfect Wheel Fitment guide
- Will not tell you the perfect suspension setup
- Will not tell you how wide you should run.
Post your fitment for your car following the rules.
Post pics.
No pics, no post.
Rules:
I'm gonna list what I see as a minimum for width and offsets.
Any thinner and more positive offset, I'm not gonna bother typing it out.
THIS IS IF YOU WANNA GO WIDE AND FITTED. Minimum is zero roll/pull. Max is anything wider/less offset, and require either rolling or pulling. All offsets will clear coilovers.
Legend:
16/17/18/19 Does not matter.
7/8/9/10 is width
35/25/15/10/5 is offset (anything in between, do the math.)
WIDTH AND OFFSET MUST CORRELATE. If you post width, post offset.
Diameter does not matter. It all depends on your height. If you're tire tucking on maximum lowness on say.. 16's, you'll clear 17's.
Same Height on 16's and fit 18's not so much.
Width and Diameter is measured in INCHES
Offset and tire size is calculated in MILLIMETER

I don't know exact tire sizes, so if you have questions, either click on one of the following links, or post it here. SEARCH FIRST, QUESTIONS LATER.
If you're totally unsure, then post Wheel spec, Roll/pull/none, Tire size desired.
What is offset?
In simple terms, The less offset you have, the farther the wheel will stick out from the hub.
Less offset means the wheel mounting surface will be closer to the center line
More offset means the wheel mounting surface will be farther from the center line.
Want to know how wide you can get away with? http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
Go there. Input your stock wheel specs.
Put in how wide you want to go.
Calculate
Go outside and pull out the tape measure

Stretching your tires/Tire Bulge
We all know what Stretched tires are.
If you don't, google it.
Stretching is by no means perfectly safe, nor is it completely dangerous.
It is not a look or the only way to go. Stretching is for fitment, not style.
215/40/17's on a wheel that is 17x8 + 40 is not cool.
215/40/17's on a 17x8 +5 is more respectable.
DO NOT STRETCH OR BULGE UNLESS YOU CAN/ NEED IT.
Just remember that it all depends on your driving conditions and style.
- Fuck around with stretched tires in potholed area, expect broken wheels.
- Run 215's on a 12 inch wheel, expect problems unless the aspect ratio is the correct size to offset the thinner width.
Tire Bulge is great if you wanna run a fatter tire on a smaller wheel. Maximum I've seen is one size up.
So:
Stock : 215/45/17
Buge : 225/40/17
Pros of Stretch:
- More predictable slip
- Fitment
