| Is my dog sick?
I have a 4 month old puppy, I have noticed him licking his own crotch and penis alot lately. Does he have a penis infection?, I understand its normal to lick it after peeing, but he licks it way too often in the house whenever i see him.

Puppies will do this often. It would be good to get a urine sample and have it checked. Things like urinary tract infections, or crystals/stones in the kidney can cause a dog to react in such a way. If those come up clear and the vet says the pup seems healthy, then chalk it up to doggy behaviour.

I'm pretty sure theres nothing wrong with your dog. It's a puppy so obviiously you're a bit more concerned about it because you're 100% sure what is "normal" and "abnormal". My dog licks her cooch fairly often and the last time I brought her to a vet, the assured me it was nothing to worry about.
Oh and if the puppy ever starts sliding her bum on the carpet alot or on the newspaper, it might mean theres somethng stuck in there. You might have to clean it yourself. It'll look like a cute thing to an outsider when its sliding but, for the dog, it's not having a comfortable moment.

Another problem!!!
The puppy was given a bone to chew on due to teething, my family member approached the puppy from the side and try to pet him, him started to growl, family member again approached him closer, puppy jumped up and showed all his teeth while growling louder. He then jump towards my sister's face trying to bite her.
This behavior is unexceptable, I don't know what to do. Is it normal for dog to be so aggressive toward its owner over a bone?
Puppy is fine with dog food in a bowl, people can put hand in his bowl while he is eating, he doesnt care. But with Bone, he is super aggressive.

Same reaction, minus the attacking and biting of face but.. theres agressive behaviour.
If you're that worried.. take your dog to the vet, it'll give you more of a "piece of mind" than the RS pet community.

my dog did that, i smacked him hard enough to launch him across the room, he got the picture that he is not alpha dog in this house. he wasnt harmed but definitely knows whos alpha in the house.
u gotta remember, dogs are pack animals, when they are adopted into ur house, there is a hierarchy that needs to be established.
another trick i was told by the vet was if the dog likes biting on things, when he/she is doing that, fold in their lip so they bite themselves, they will soon know that biting and chewing on anything cept their chew toys is wrong.

Puppy is fine with dog food in a bowl, people can put hand in his bowl while he is eating, he doesnt care. But with Bone, he is super aggressive. | Time to work on teaching the puppy that you or anyone else can take the bone away and probably give it back. start off with asking for a trade. Offer something really yummy like a piece of steak or something. Then use a word, I usually use trade. once the pup is getting good and 'trades' you the bone for the treat put the treat on a table and ask for the trade. If the pup gives up the bone go get the treat and trade. half the time you do the trades you should also after a minute give the treat back. Teach the puppy that you aren't stealing. Everyone in the house should do this at least once with the puppy. If you can once puppy is good at this, get a friend to do with the pup.
Last step is to walk over and ask for a trade, take the bone then give it back. Now the bone has become the reward.

| Licking Crotch: As everyone has stated earlier, it's most likely nothing special, but you could always bring the puppy in for a check up. However, it being 4months old, i'm sure you didn't get it very long ago. Why didn't you bring it to a vet for a check up after purchase/adoption? This should've been done within the same week of attaining the pet. Teething: If you think this is a problem at 4months, during teething.... you shouldn't even have a dog. Dogs need items to chew on during their teething stage, if you make their bones inaccessable during their teething period, be scared for your shoes.
Note, if you do find it a problem, don't figure it out by yourself. Bring the dog in for professional dog obedience training. This way you can define who is alpha male and teach them a few tricks on the way. During this time, make sure your sister knows that the puppy is in training, and that she should avoid conflicts like that until the puppy has been corrected.
Also, warn your friends next time who think it's okay to pet dogs while they're eating. Or else one day they're gonna try to pet a pit-bull and end up getting mauled. I learned this the hard way as a child and was very close to being blinded.

I have to disagree with two things in your post. First one (in bold) about the sister avoiding conflicts with the pup till he's trained. This is a bad idea, and can cause more issues with the dog and her in the long run. Everyone in the house and that visits should be involved in a dogs training process. I have worked with kids as young as 2 and a half with dogs. This way the dog learns to listen/respect everyone in the household. Yes the 2 year old can't tell the dog to do much, but asking for a sit and rewarding gives the dog the impression that the child is someone of importance.
Second Bolded, I would agree if it was an older dog who was showing food agression. And yes you should warn them no matter the dog, its an animal like humans they may react to anything. I do believe however that if friends are willing and want to interact with the dog then they should be handling the food dish and petting the dog, then rewarding. This is how you create a dog that is comfortable and confident , who doesn't need to react because to them people and their food dish is a good combo.
And a third comment in general, to no one in particular, just on the subject. If you have a dog expect to get bit, it's like when working with horses you have to expect to be thrown or kicked. If you don't expect to be bit at least once while having a dog then things will happen. It's going to happen sooner or later. If you fear this then the dog has all the power.
sorry for the long read.
