Yeah, cold start is for the cats but the manual says to drive moderately right after starting so I don't get why we need it. It only lasts 30 seconds along with the loud secondary air pump blowing air through exhaust to move (atomize) rich fuel out through the cats. Cats don't like unburnt fuel in them as it prematurely wears them out. That's why it's best to drive off immediately in a light manner, just baby the car until oil is at operating temperature then go crazy. All this cold start and SAP are really for the people who drive their car two blocks and turn it off. |

M3E46Fanatic, a better way to upload your photos is make an account on a third party picture hosting website, I use imgur.com, upload your photos there and then post them using insert image and copy paste the url to the image. |

Anyone here? I think I see westopherhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...049337de83.jpg Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk |
My car's booty is hanging in the air getting medical attention from a torn/ripped/cracked RACP. Subframe is laying on the ground awaiting bushings. Probably won't be done til end of week or next week! |
Not my ride, but since this is kind of our BMW main thread, here's some cars I took with a potato cam at the BC BMW meet. Met tons of great people like Westopher and other RS'ers (who didn't mention their tag) Anyone know who owns the 1 series? I know he's on RS LOL https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...06a5cc5f6d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0eebaea90a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3814ef6309.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bc0bee4d7f.jpg Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk |
Nice meeting you today man, it was a solid turnout! So many well kept cars. |
Anyone got a spare bumper that they want to sell? Hit a really bad dip yesterday, and shocks being shot, the rebound is crap. I ended up tearing my entire bumper and lip off. FML |

Vorshlag 02 330ci Daily Driven Track Car Thread Pretty interesting read. It's very extensive, so prepare to put hours into reading this, but a very good read with good resources and pictures. Interestingly, they found rubbing issues at 245mm all round and had to roll fenders/add hardmotorsport fender flares. The previous owner of my car had put on 265s in the rear, and its not rolled. |
The front is pretty much uniformly the tight spot on a square setup BMW - this is true from as far back as the E36 all the way through the E9X. Rears are no problem. -Mark |
The shop in the thread actually found the front were easier to roll than the rear and their major rubbing issues when loading up the tires were from the rear. I believe they ended up cutting both front and rear and placing flares. That being said, they are also running a 18x10 or 17x10 wheel Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |
Yes - I did the same process with my E36 - cut the front and rear fenders, welded the rear unibody back into one, and custom steel flares on all four corners to fit 18x10s and 285 Hoosiers. It's easier to roll the fronts, but the fronts are much tighter overall - rolling is just part of the process. -Mark |
anyone have a compression test kit i can borrow? I'd buy one from CT, but the reviews are pretty bad. |
im running 245/35 on 19x9 in the rear and it rubs when loaded up on turns. no one wanted to roll my fenders because it was such a bitch to cut out the urethane in the lip so i ended up rolling it without removing it. made just enough clearance, dont think i could fit 10" rears tho. looking for a 17 or 18" set up next summer. cant stand the ride of 19s. |
