You can buy a cow, horse lamb, sheep or ducks at Langley auctions. I am not sure where, but I have been to livestock auctions, and see people trading ducks and rabbits etc.

you can sell the shit.. it's a shit making factory. it does wonders for plants or something so use it to grow more grass.
when it dies, you can sell the meat and cow hide and buy another cow and do the same.

ps. don't feed it beef or you could get a mad cow.
edit. holy shit i forgot about the methane. figure out a way to put that stuff into a tank then sell it

there is a law against keeping domesticated farm animals as pets.
putting that aside.
- never light a match near ur house, the methane levels will shoot up.
- the amount of cow shit will mean a much higher chance of stepping in shit when trying to walk to and from the garage
- all that moo'ing will confuse the neighborhood dogs..
on the plus side..
- fresh milk, just walk out with a glass or ur bowl of cereal or even ur cup of coffee, reach down, give a squeeze..
- you will have lots of free shit for your garden, literally!
- you have braging rights that you have a cow for a pet...

I think that ladies would much more like a pet monkey over a pet cow, monkeys are also very smart and you can teach them things that cows cannot be taught like: getting beer, grooming you and attracting hot young babes 
a cow does have great benifits with the fresh milk and all but I think a pet monkey would be the way to go.
except that monkeys shit every hour on the hour so you would have to have a good supply of diapers for the monkey.

Just an FYI they are looking into changing the laws a little for Vancouver.
They are looking at allowing people to have 'urban farms' as they have in some of the states. This will allow people to raise chickens in their backyards in the city. Unfortunately that won't allow the OP their cow, but a brood of chickens would be pretty cool.
