Fido to get rid of iPhone?
 

Anyone think they will get rid of the iPhone as part of their low-budget image?

I heard something about them getting rid of the iPhone and them getting more crackberries

What are you talking about the I-Phone is a low budget fad phone.

I'm sure fido is getting a lot of money from the iphone+iphone plans. Can't see them getting rid of them anytime soon.

Also I hate their new cheap/low-budget image now. I also hate how as I am an existing customer they told me they can not cancle my System access fee where as new customers can.

^ depending on when your contract ends, you might be able to squeeze something out of them through Retention. I still have another 8 months left of my old retention plan, and I am going to renew my plan with no SAF...

Just that insiders at fido on hofo are saying that some changes are going to happen to the iPhone in the near future...

^^ perhaps they mean that the iphone will be cheaper? It is apple so a price cut+new model are almost gaurented every year.

I know of retention plans but I am not aloud to change my account due to:
1. my sister has yet to leave our joint account and create her own
2. I'm under 19 and they revoked my access to my account -_-

i heard Fido/Roger's exclusivity contract for Iphone ends in 2009.. after that other carriers will carry iphone as well.. that might be why

what other carriers? there is only 1 GSM carrier in Canada which is Rogers/Fido. Apple will not come out with CDMA iphone in the near future.

Talked to sales in dealer, they are trying to take iPhone away from Fido and leave it to Rogers only eventually in the long term. They allowed the Fido iPhone without Data plan for a while and they are considering to put it back on again. Therefore, in the near future, even if they still have iPhone, you might need to sign Data plan with it to get it from Fido.

Cause its part of your price plan, if you feel that you dont want to pay the SAF, you can always switch to the new plan with a one time migration fee of 25$

Telus and Bell are moving to UMTS/HSDPA. They can handle any future iPhone. :) iPhone 4G? It's so gonna end up on Bell lolll
