| doggy smell
Are there any products out there that can remove the doggy smell on your dog.
Doggy smell is particularly bad after dog has been out for walk in damp misty or rainy day.
My dog just got a bath and he smells fine for the first 2 days, but soon after he got a walk in vancouver rainy day. He stinks the next day.
Any doggy fabrice type of spray? or somehting else?

sorry, if you cant handle the smell of your dog. i dont think you should have one.
wash your dog every other day then. or, open your windows, get some ceiling fans, get fans blowing in the air, put air fresher on heating vents.
i doubt there is a safe way to conceal a dogs smell without potentially harming it.

wash their snout. a lot of the "smell" is from there since most dogs dont sweat.
keep their butt hair trimmed so they dont get poo sticking to it. sounds disgusting, but it is! =P

there are safe dog colognes out there. The other thing that helps even more is get a spray bottle of water. Brush out the dog after they are dry to get out anything that could have been picked up. Then lightly spray with water and brush out till they are dry. This takes some time but will freshen up the dog.

The best is at most once a month, if you can do it every couple of months it's even better. Washing them often will strip their natural oils and irritate their skin. Even with my show dogs that get bathed often when showing, I will not bath them much in between shows, this way the body has time to recover.
Brushing them out completely as much as possible will keep them clean, and the coat healthy. It will also help keep the smell down

could it be the anal gland/sac that is making dog stinky?

Yes anal glands can emit a smell. Usually though it will be in the form of gas. I would get a vet or groomer to check the anal glands for you. Or if have been shown by a vet express them during the dogs next bath. Just a note though you do not want to always express them yourselves as the muscles that should be doing it will get lazy. I find a dog that is getting out for lots of walks/activities and is on a good diet for them will express them naturally on the walk.

Well, our lab doesn't smell and she's out everyday...bathed once a month. But in the summer, if she's been rolling around with other dogs, we wipe her with these wet wipes you can buy at like petsmart. We find they work great, one wipe each time does the trick and shes like 80 pounds. She never minds the smell either. There are also sprays, but the wipes are a lot less messy and she doesn't lick herself after to try to rid the smell.

Maybe change their diet? I was referred to this book "Give Your Dog a Bone" by Ian Billinghurst, and he goes on about a Raw diet....so maybe give that a try? I know for sure that the Vancouver Public Library has a copy if you want to read it.

on my golden retriever, most of the smell comes from the ears. I use some ear cleaner and spray it into the ear canal, wait a few minutes, and take a paper towel and wipe out all the crap in there. Those dirty stuff in the ears smell REALLY bad but once that is cleaned, the smell is gone.
