Lol that's the scariest part. In my eyes, if I screw up the mold, not only do I have to buy supplies again and ship it out, but I'd probably pay someone better versed in the realm of face-molds to ensure it will work.

I'm still debating. I'm looking at the full kevlar (when getting pseudo-custom, why wouldn't you!), but after everything I'm probably looking at under 900 for EVERYTHING (mold+shipping, mask+gst+shipping). I'm going to pay a visit to THS to see if any of the 500+ masks fit me well. If not, I may have to rethink kevlar and go with one of the other choices. Everyone says that full fiber is just as protective but "heavier". Scouring GSBB it looks like a few of the more senior guys there (bc30 comes to mind) have made the switch to full fiberglass against good players with nothing but praise for the mask. Plus that would leave room for my desired Maltese combo :D

Plus, 16 weeks to wait for a mask is agonizing. I only waited 8 for my EFlex's and that was like hell on earth :okay:

Truenosan 07-14-2015 01:32 PM

8 weeks for your Eflexes? I waited 7 months for my G2's!!! lol

I was also looking at http://www.newimagegoaliemask.com/

I really like their 965 model. Pretty much identical to the Bauer/Itech 961, so I know it will fit. Only thing is, the exchange is not in our favour right now, so after conversions, it's almost $700 ish.

consider Hackva or https://www.donsimmons.com/

edit: nevermind Hackva closed down.. they had lifetime warranty on shell too

I was just going to say, Hackva gone lol.

THS still has some stock, but I guess there goes any kind of warranty or further support.

m3thods 07-15-2015 11:36 AM

LOL the G2s were way to long to wait for. I was quoted 6 months for G2s. Thankfully I loved the CCMs just a bit more so I went with those.

I don't fit Hackva. TBH I would've bought one if they did given the shell is a tank. But the only retail units that fit currently are the 961, and the Concept C1/C2. They both don't fit perfect, but tbh neither does my Eddy. Given that those options are north of 600, I think I still want to go with a Protechsport.

Truenosan- Michel has a 961 clone, but I think he still checks which mold fits your face even if you tell him that you want a certain model.

Yeah, I just haven't had a chance to make a mold, and I don't want to wait for the protech. G2 wait was horrendous lol

m3thods 07-20-2015 03:56 PM

The wait was somewhat unexpectedly long right? I recall reading that people were quoted a few months but it ended up being a year due to the volume of orders.

They are great pads though- so light even compared to my "light" CCMs (compared to my old V2s) lol

Even if it fit I wouldn't even touch the Concept masks with a 10 foot pole.

Thanks for the heads up. I knew of the issue already. I was going to grab the shell and put on a nc cateye from down south and skip the certified titanium cages. At this time I'm looking for at least a shell that fits me well. It seems as though the only off-the-shelf ones that did reasonably well were the Concept/NME shells (prior fitting better). I've yet to do another fit session in store and if nothing works for me, it's off to Protechsport.

Just ordered the Shark 965 mask from New image. Got my cousin in LA to do it for me and bring it up for me when he comes to Vancouver later. Cant wait to try it out!

Nice! Did you order blind with respect to fit? Or do they take measurements before you commit to buying? Looks like a great mask for the price even with the exchange.

the hockey shop in surrey is having their big sale till tomorrow! My brother and I picked up some bauer x100 skates for 400 a piece. I got the normal standard colored skates he got the blacked out limited edition ones which look pretty sick. Originally the skates were $700 last year so I thought it was a pretty good deal...

Mike Oxbig 08-08-2015 10:20 AM

any sticks gonna be on sale?

Nabatron 08-08-2015 10:41 AM

pretty sure all their stuff at the shop is on sale!

skiiipi 08-08-2015 10:55 AM

X100 at Sportchek right now is $359.99 and u get a $30 promotional gift card, and 2000 bonus scene points and 3 free skate sharpens

Total one nxg sticks will go on sale soon too, not sure when, my guess is it will be $149.99 or $139.99 plus there will be another promo gift card promotion for $20 gc when u spend $100, $50 when u spend $250.

Rbz stage 2 are going on sale for $139.99 as is the Easton V9

The Rbz skate is $359.99 plus the $30 promotional gift card

Nabatron 08-08-2015 11:10 AM

Nabatron 08-08-2015 11:19 AM

Im going to have to see if the hockey shop can price match the skates then...

Nabatron 08-08-2015 11:52 AM

called the hockey shop their price matching to me is pretty lame....the other store has to have the same skate/width IN STOCK then they can price match..

There are 15+ sportcheks in the lower mainland, someone will have the same skate/width as the one you bought.

Nabatron 08-08-2015 02:08 PM

^guy checked on the computer for me said only have x100 9.5EE available...I have 9 with EE and my bro got special edition x100 9D non in stock.

UFO 08-08-2015 06:39 PM

thats pretty standard price match policy/fine print at most retailers

Wilso09 08-08-2015 10:27 PM

SportChek needs to stock more 75-flex sticks for all us skinny Asians!!! Prices are great when these top end stick go on sale at SportChek, but it's always 100-flex.

Lots of 85 flex now but not a lot of 75 flex you are right about that.

The same goes for other retailers. The intention of price matching is so you have access to the lowest price possible. But if the competitor doesn't have the same size in stock you're not even able to purchase the same product there.

Prices are great because manufacturers close out product and all they have left are flexes and patterns that haven't sold. There's no way any store can make money selling sticks at these prices if they were purchased when they were considered current product.

skiiipi 08-09-2015 12:00 PM

The nxg was a close out but we got good selection in curves and flexes.
The v9e, rbz stage 2 are actually left overs because they didn't sell too well. So majority of them were bought when they were "current stock"
