I leave mine untucked and loose. But it's a medium C/A, so I tend to be a bit smaller in the net compared to some of my goalie buddies. The LT does run a little short. But I strap mine to my pants which holds it all together. I did add a couple of small pieces to the lower belly section of the C/A. Just a couple of protective flaps made by ballpeenhammer.
Those small additions made a huge difference.
Damn, you've been out for a long time.
Good to see you're getting back out there. What was your reason for being off the ice?
I got to use a buddy's Nexus 1N pro return the other day, and I'm hooked. It was an amazing stick to use. All shots hit their targets, and I could pick up a pass like it was nothing.
Pricey?
My answer to that, is yolo.
Short version, Smoked the outside of my foot between my pinkie toe and the knuckle of the pinkie toe on the top corner of a tile.*2x2 tiles lining the bottom of a wall* After stitches and swelling were gone the bone of my knuckle sticks out quite a bit, looks like a bunion almost. Skates were painful with the pressure against the outside of my foot.
Went skating last night for the first time and it wasn't too bad, so I am itching to get back into my gear.
^
Sorry to hear that. But it's going to be such a great feeling when you're about to start your first game back. Like your first drink of cold lemonade on a hot summer day.

I'm hoping for that as well. Been out of commission again for over a month now. Stupid infection.
Sorry just saw this, no I don't think it would make a difference for shooting. Same as originalhypa, my blade looks like a warzone and I've never noticed a difference in shots.
Easton sent me a stealth cx as a replacement for my v9e (or something like that), and it's the first time I've used anything better than a sportchek $119 special in a long time. Really like it, wondering how long it will last as I burn through easton sticks every 1-2 months.
So many goalie pics lately so here is a player one for a change! (nothing against goalies)
Looking forward to seeing the finished product Truenosan.
I went out to a stick and puck yesterday with my son and his buddy. A little scrimmage broke out, and needless to say, it's really hard to score on a goalie!
I like skating out. I like making plays. I like disrupting breakouts.
But dammit, it's hard to shoot while skating and defending yourself against errant bumps and checks.

I'll stick to goaltending, if you don't mind.
Coming from playing out for many years, I'm starting to believe that playing out requires more coordination than playing in goal. Needing to think about positioning while skating and shooting and avoiding contact is a different beast compared to puck tracking and going down/up/sideways. One thing I miss when playing in goal is the ability to go to the bench after a long tiring shift lol
Don't get me wrong I love playing both positions, but each position offers so much gratification (scoring goals vs robbing them!) that there's no way I could give up one. You should keep trying it I promise you won't regret it
And had I been in net with you shooting, I assure you it's not that difficult
Playing out is too much work. I enjoy playing goal way more. I see so much more hockey, read all the plays, anticipate where players and the puck are headed. Its an absolute intellectual challenge for the whole game, then you have to battle with yourself to keep focused.
Playing out, you just skate like hell, hope you fetch a loose puck or your teammate passes to you, try not to lose the puck, then go back and sit on the bench for 5 minutes.

Yeah I'm a bit biased lol
Playing out in most levels of beer league also involves having you stick/legs/lower body slashed/chopped every time you pass someone.
Any of you goalies available to play in a scrimmage tonight at 930pm at Killarney?
Edit: Nvm found a goalie

Did you find someone? I don't see it on hockey community. What div? I have plans already but I'll double check to make sure it's going to follow through.
Easton, ugh....
I love their sticks, but like any bad relationship they let you down at the worst possible time.
I used a new Bauer 1S stick on tuesday night. First shot from just past the blue line, it's a riser, then goes bar down. I like that stick a lot!
Friend tried to sell me on the 1S, but since it is the replacement for the Supreme MX3, I am hesitant.
I love my Nexus1000 and have a 1N P92 Lie 5 on order. Can't wait to try that stick out.

Nexus 8000's are on clearance for $150. STAY AWAY from them.

Maybe I'll try to pick up a bauer stick this time around. Any recs for between 100-150?
If you're not a brand slut, I really REALLY can't recommend Sherwood sticks enough.
Especially at SC you can likely find some N12s or T90s/100/120s on clearance/sale often for $100 or less.
I currently rock N10s/N12s and T90s, which are all low-kick sticks. The newer "T" series (T100/120) I believe are all mid-kick sticks. Honestly, they are all on par with any Bauer/Easton halo stick I've used/borrowed (and there have been a number of them) but for an excellent price. The sticks I bought were all sub 80 (for top-tier sticks!!!!). The stick feel and balance is excellent and sometimes superior to the big boys. It's to the point where the SW Rekkors are too light, but damn are they nice sticks.

The Nexus 1000 is a really cool stick too. I enjoyed shooting my buddy's 1000 (the brother of the 1S guy). He is using a pro return shaft with a P02 blade; the Kesler. It's a square toe with a big heel curve.
I liked the toe when I used it, and the heel kick sent every shot about 18" off the ice. It's too bad that this is an impossible blade to find.
The 1S stuff is incredibly expensive. The sticks are on for $319 at the hockey shop right now. That's about $20 more than the top end sticks usually go for.
I guess when you're spending $300, whats another $20?

Imho, get the highest end stick you can. If you can find a pro return, or last year's hot twig, go for it. I tried the One50, RBK 24k, and the like. They're heavy and they don't come close to the feel that the high end sticks have.
I lent a buddy my Easton HTX for a skate last week. He was using an old Easton that weighed a ton. After the skate he texted me from the hockey shop. He was sold on the high end stick in one skate
