Is it that easy to pull out? I don't want to accidently break the black OPS as I would just go buy a Base shaft as I have an older tapered easton synergy blade that's still going strong but its on a broken TPS shaft. |
Haven't tried it on the Base myself but I've done some clean pulls on other fused two piece sticks like the SE16 and Dolomite just by heating it up and yanking on it. |

I have a couple used tapered blades sitting around, which I am hoping works in a Base shaft. 1 of them is an older (3-4 yrs) Easton synergy and the other, is some KOHO blade (for Roller). |
if they are tapered, they will work... koho blade for roller? Are you sure that one is tapered? As for the synergy itll fit, because I put an old synergy in my Base 2 piece. BUT it is a lot heavier than the one the base sticks come with/ the blades base sells... so the balance is very blade heavy |
looking for new stakes for the first time in like 10 years when to cyclone taylors yesterday and tried on a pair of the bauer one.7's i've always worn bauers, went to get new skates a couple years ago and the vapours didn't fit at all so i tried on grafs but never bought them this one. series is made for a wider foot so that's why they fit now.....i tired on another pair of G5 grafs but they were killing me in the ankle so it looks like the bauers are the ones i will end up with any comments on the one.7's? i'll only be playing once a week but don't want shit stakes.... thanks. |
I've worn Grafs the last 5 years myself. I upgraded to one.9's this year and so far love them. I can't really shed much insite on the one.7's but if thy're anything like the one.9's you'll be pleased. Out of curiosity, how much are the one.7's at Cyclones? |
$339 i think it was i'm heading over to the hockey shop at lunch here to check their pricing out and talk to their guys the grafs i tried on were a half size too small...but still the pressure on the side bones of my ankle was brutal compared to the bauers......also the amount fo flexibility forwards was really strange (was more) compared to the bauers and all the past skates i've worn |
If anyone is interested.. Graf Supra 625 Size 9 (Size 10 shoe) Brand new steel (one sharpening) $75 http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...0625BB303E.jpg Graf Supra G3 *I think they're size 9.5. It is a more abrasion-resistant material that has great durability (think along the lines of a golf ball cover) that is very similar to the Surlyn that is used on CCM u+ CL. Great value, in my opinion. |
so for my amount of playing, there's no reason to look into the one.8 or anything higher i want the comfort and will pay for it |
if you want comfort look into the nexus line. The supposedly similar fit to the flexlites which have zero break in. I have the flexlites 3.0 before but wanted something stiffer so I switched over to one70s. Flexlites do run wider, and but are a lot more comfortable and fit nice out of the box |
i've got no problem with a break-in period...i've played hockey all my life and have had lots of new skates |
new to hockey, which of the equipment you guys would buy new and which ones used? buying everything new seems kinda ridiculous for a noob |

with the exception of maybe stick (be careful of hidden damage that you may not know about). If you buy stuff while on sale, and just buy entry level gear, it is honestly not that expensive. You can get everything for under $500 easily. |
agreed. i don't like buying used stuff. other peoples sweat over time...no matter how much it's washed it's still gross imo. like skiiipi said buy sale stuff that fits and is comfortable. shop online if you want to. you can get stuff for really cheap, but the downside is you won't know how it fits. |
Goto a shop, try on stuff, then go home and buy online. Posted via RS Mobile |

Anyone try the new "Blackedge" runners? If so, any comparisons to stock (LS2) or Step? I'm intrigued, but if it's marginal I'd probably go with Step, |

i ended up getting the "one comp" skates from the hockey shop...it's their version of the one.7 with a couple of modifications skated on them friday night at public skating just to get out and then my first game saturday night...other than being off the ice for two years and having to get used to how the rocker on the blade is (need to get them resharped and shaped) they are pretty damn good as far as new skate comfort go |
