just ordered yet another stick from base.. matte grip all black ops.. p88 clone with snakeskin coating. cant wait! I've owned 4 sticks from base in the past 2 years. None have broke, just sold em due to being fickle with blade patterns. But I must say the p88 is going to be a keeper.

I'm unhappy with my stick from Base. It was a cool experience to do the whole custom stick thing but I will not be buying another stick from them. Your the first person ive heard that is happy with the product.

You're the first person I've encountered that is unhappy with them. They seem to be doing very well. I have owned a lot of sticks, and they perform very well, and super durable.

Explain why you are so unhappy?

Feels cheap, every slap shot the stick feels like its going to snap. Wrist shots have no snap. Im pretty particular about the stick i use.

Really, it's all personal preference.
So far, what stick are you happy with?

Ya i agree everyone is difference if he likes the BASE good for him, i got nothing against them i just dont like mine and have had similar experiences with my friends.
Nothing to expensive an Easton Stealth or EQ with a 85 Flex they range from $99-$150.
My worst experience is with an Easton last year though i cant remember what type but it was $250 at sportschek and i had a $100 gift card there so i thought why not. The stick was a piece of crap, it broke after about 15 games.

Was it black with some yellow? The Easton RS?

I broke my first one on a slapper with under a month of use and the warrenty stick broke during its first game from a slash. :okay:

Sounds like an S19

Spidey 11-01-2012 02:24 PM

Easton's are probably the worst for durability. My favourite retail stick was the one95. it was solid. Then again, Bauer makes a pretty solid stick ever since the one95. I just like my base because I can get it in a 75 flex, and it performs as well as the one95 did for me, if no better. And you can't beat the price.

cdizzle_996 11-01-2012 02:28 PM

I still search online for one95's, no luck.

No matter what anyone says, nothing compares to it, and yes I've tried a ton of sticks.

I'm still really happy with my Dolomites

yea, even the new totalones aren't as good.

warrior makes a decent stick too. I used warrior for a few years back when the macdaddy first came out.

I had a bunch of Macdaddy's and loved them but the blade wore out too easily. Same thing with the One 95's and Totalone's.
So far I have been using my Nexus for over 6 months, playing 3-4 times a week, and the stick is still going strong.

maybe you need to adjust how you shoot, lol.. the totalones/one95s have really solid blades.

Yeah, take less slappers. :okay:

The blades were losing their stiffness and shots were turning into knucklers.

More slappers = cracked heels

heels, and the face of the blades as well.. if it is just the heel that's going you may want to adjust the lie of your stick

I get the chipped toes but I think for me it is more so from toe drags, but I could be wrong.
But deffinately the blades lose that "stiffness" over time. I notice my sticks just don't feel right. Even making a pass and I can feel it isn't right but the blades look fine. No cracks what so ever on the heel.
Happened to 3 Macdaddy's, 2 One95's and 1 Totalone so far.

UFO 11-02-2012 01:25 PM

My blade toes will chip from mucking and digging in the corners.

I really like my Base stick as well, but I'm not too particular about sticks personally.

toe drags shouldn't chip the toe of the blade unless it's from roller hockey... the blades do get "soft" over time, but it is usually the shaft that goes soft.. if you look at it, you will probably see a slight "bend" on it

I'll take a look at my remaining sticks and see. All the old sticks I either threw them out or gave them away to some beginner friends.

Using too high of a lie or poor technique = Cracked heels
