These help to lower the angle of attack when in a butterfly. I'm hoping it takes some strain off my ankle. Years of mountain biking have left it without a lot of mobility, and that's hurting my hockey performance.

Still deciding on which stick I like best.

The Reebok 6K is my old reliable. The AI is new, and uncut. This was sized so that I didn't have to cut down the 85 flex. Both are Datsyuk spec, as he's one of the few NHL'ers who is the same size as me. The Bauer is not my favorite. I cut it down and it's become a 100 flex at least. I just can't use it.

^ what do you mean datsyuk spec, and him being the same size as you? hes not unusually small or big.

He's 5'11" and 185, which is the same height and 5lbs more than me. The lie is perfect, and the flex and curve work well for shooting. The only thing I'm finding is that my slapshot isn't as powerful. But I don't use that very often anyway.

I've tried other "off the shelf" sticks and they just don't work. Most are too tall, so when I cut them down it messes with the flex.

you do realize that datsyuk doesn't use a 6k or ai3, and the retail curve is nothing like his real curve/flex.

datsyuk does use a fairly long stick, but for the average player who is 5'11. using a senior stick that is uncut will hinder your performance a lot

Datsyuk just refers to the P38 Reebok pattern. Pro spec vs retail spec is very different.

I know, but it's an easy reference to work with. I know a Datsyuk will be the same in an AI, or one of the K series sticks.

That said, my son's friend was given a Burrows stick at one of the open practices, and I had a chance to check it out.
It said "Pro model, No warranty" where the spec details usually are. It also had his name on it.

If you want to try and get into pro-stock sticks locally, check out the Sports Exchange on Burrard and 6th or even the Canucks Outlet store across from the PNE. Only problem is their stick flexes are way too manly for me and most other rec players

Its not a Datsyuk stick, it just the curve. I am using the CCM RBZ nugent-hopkins curve right now but its not the exact hopkins stick. I see "pro return" sticks all the time and the way their name on the stick isnt the same as what you have in the pic.

Boy does this thing make a difference when hauling goalie gear around. :fullofwin:

I've been wanting one of those for a while now, but afraid that it's going to weigh 100lbs and be awkward to work with.

I saw one at Cyclones and looked it over. Even empty it was pretty heavy already and the large metal frame makes difficult to fit into most cars. Unless you have a SUV or Van then I'd advise against it. The length and depth are comparable to other bags on the market but it is 6" wider, that's quite significant when going through certain arena doors.

The hooks and bungee cords keeping the pads in place on the outside of the bag are a nice feature but it's nothing that you can't improvise with a short trip to the hardware store. At the retail price of just under $300 the Sumo isn't cheap either.

I can tell you the bag is huge compared to the regular tower bag.

Excuse my shitty tablet photos. Everything fits in perfectly. It doesn't fit in a lot of cars, however, I have a wagon that I use for hockey, so it fits in fine (won't fit in my FR-S if my life depended on it haha)

It surprisingly doesn't weight too much. There is strap on the bottom of the bag, and it makes it easy to lift into the vehicle.

Anyone wear the Reebok SX100 socks? I'm ~5'8.5" and wear 14-15" shin guards. Not sure if I should buy Sr. (30"), Intermediate (26") or Junior (24")

I am close to 5'11, and the seniors are about right... a tad on the loose side... So maybe intermediate would be better for you. I like my socks snug though.

I'm the same height as you and I wear a 14" shin pad. The Intermediates are too short. As for the SR sizing it may be too baggy depending on what model of shins you're wearing. The velcro tabs also don't line up with my jock shorts so you'll either need to alter them or go with a garter.

I find the socks made by Firstar are a better fit for guys our height because the velcro tabs are built into the sock rather than a tab on the top.

I was just going to recommend firstar as well.. they have proper velcro tabs for the garter, and they seem like they would fit better overall.. BTW mickz, are all firstar socks kevlar lined, or was that just a certain line they had/have?

They called it K Skin and it only came in solid black and solid white. It was too expensive and not a lot of people bought them. I don't think anyone else makes a similar product nowadays, NHL equipment managers have been sewing in cut resistant fabric separately.

Hogan Hockey makes a variety of kevlar products if you guys are looking for more than just skate socks.

The NHL should really adopt a hockey sock with kevlar lining.. it's an easy way to incorporate it onto players, without having them wear a bulky sock.

I'm pretty happy with my firstar socks. They seem better built than the reebok socks and no issues with bagginess

This exists, it just didnt work too well during testing. Theyre still working on it.

I can see it being bulky/heavy if the whole sock was made of it, but if they just made a strip on the back area from the ankle up to the thigh, about 4 inches wide, and the rest of the sock stretchy, I don't see how that wouldn't work
