anyone use that new e28 curve on the mako? looks interesting and possibly hard to use at the same time cuz of that toe hook

Never used it, and hate that it is only offered on the Mako and RS.. I will never buy either of those sticks. I hope they make them as replacements though. I love toe curves in general as I think they are very easy to use. That's my preference though.

!Nhan 03-14-2013 12:17 AM

agreed. pretty disappointed it's not offered in lower end sticks. really don't wanna shell out 270 for a stick that i might not even like, and even trying it at hockey shop can do so much to give you an idea of the stick =\

If it makes it any better, its $100 cheaper.. Easton Stealth RS Grip Sr. Composite Hockey Stick
Easton Mako Sr. Composite Hockey Stick

mickz 03-14-2013 06:26 AM

^^ Neither has the E28 pattern.

I was there. Nothing much to look at. Some old ripped shoulders, elbows, and past season gloves. Lost of jerseys without name bars for $150. Best deal seemed to be the giants v10 helmets with the visors. $50 for 'new' and $40 for used. I didnt go early enough to be the first group in but some people picked up decent skates (x7.0/apx, reeboks but couldn't see which ones they took).overall, people were disappointed in the sale saying it wasn't like years past. I went home empty handed.

Picked up a few Easton S19 sticks with a 85 flex hall
(first time buying a higher end stick)

and i was shocked at how light and how well it performed. definitely hooked, i think itll be tough to go back to a lower end stick :(

lemme know how those hold up. durability is a major flaw with easton sticks

A number of my teammates have had a few over the last few seasons. I can tell you right now the S19 is not a durable stick. But they say it's a hell of a stick when it's in one piece!

i don't doubt easton makes the best performing sticks... I would use em if I was in the Pros.. I am not in the Pros lol

Have you guys ordered blades only from Base? Their website seemingly only allows you to order custom sticks. What's the price like for blade only?

When I called last year it was $50 a pop iirc. Not a bad price if they carry all of the curves, which I'm not sure. And I'm not sure if it's just the one clear finish (as opposed to the "shark skin" finish on the mako that they have).

If you call, please update the thread :fullofwin:

I have ordered a couple. you can choose the finish that you want (sharkskin, clear, naked). I don't know if they only com in senior, as that is what I got. 50 bucks for a blade that will outlast any out there is def worth it. They offer 30 days on them too.

UFO 03-25-2013 03:08 PM

Awesome, will look into it. I've got shafts to last a lifetime considering how often I break them. I also have a load of pro-stock Dolo blades in a pattern I don't like nearly as much as Base's BC01

Anybody need some LH Dolo pro blades in a slightly less open P91a type curve? ;)

!Nhan 03-25-2013 03:22 PM

between tapered and standard shafts are tehre any differences between them?

Spidey 03-25-2013 03:30 PM

tapered blades are for tapered shafts which give you a lower kick point than standard blades/shafts (which are mid kick).. I generally prefer mid kick sticks for slappers. But still i rarely use slapshots in games, I have been using low kick for the last few years...

Which finish do you normally go with? I have sharkskin on mine but it's not really necessary when I tape the entire blade.

I have used both naked and sharkskin. I like the sharkskin as it makes tape removable easier. on clear/gloss blades, white tape seems to adhere and stick to the blade too much. Naked was fine, but there's just something about sharkskin that I like.

m3thods 03-26-2013 12:22 PM

Call me crazy, but I also find sharkskin has "a better feel". Less cling-clangy.

Bought the bauer one.9 three months ago and it is exactly what I wanted- a true one95 clone

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps2a16f435.jpg

I've used an apx, two t1s, and one t1 nxg over the last 2 years and I would take the one.9 hands down over all three.

If you liked the soft blade-feel of the one95, try this stick out.

Spidey 03-27-2013 01:03 PM

^ it is awesome that bauer still makes something comparable to the old one95, but for the price of 200+, it isn't worth it.
