Sorry man, it's found a new home now to a needy young goalie.

:)

I need new gloves for this year and love the Bauer APX's. If anyone sees a set for a good price LMK.

mickz 07-15-2013 05:32 PM

APX or APX Pro? Your best bet is probably to use a Sportchek Team Assist coupon and getting 20% off. The APX glove just came out this year and is a MAP item so I don't expect the specialty hockey stores to discount them anytime soon.

kristianhay 07-15-2013 11:17 PM

I would browse these forums to see if you can snag a pair for cheap. I got APX Pro's for $100, brand new.

fml.. so there's a big rip in my bag that happened recently, and my catcher dropped out of it today while leaving :( I guess that's the price for being cheap

BallPeenHammer2 07-21-2013 02:06 AM

duct tape bro. BTW, where do you play? Been lookin to play somewhere =(

RevYouUp 07-21-2013 02:20 AM

playing in ice604 at 8 rinks

SumAznGuy 07-21-2013 04:50 PM

When did you lose your catcher?
I'll be around 8 rinks tonight. I can keep my eyes out and check lost and found for you if you haven't done that yet.

originalhypa 07-21-2013 08:50 PM

Weaksauce.
:(

If you need a catcher, you can snag my Bauer. Just gotta wait till the new Passau comes in, hopefully this week.

On a side note, I started taking a weekly goalie practice at Magic Ice in Surrey. After having some bad luck on my ashl team it's good to have a weekly ice time and training session. Buddy said I have really fast hands the other day, and that felt pretty darn good. Especially considering that my save % has taken a dive steeper than the 08' nasdaq.

:(

Thursday nights, $60 drop in, or $ 150/ month.
is hard work. I had my first practice last week, and pretty much died within 50 min. we all have our own creases to work in, and there are 2 instructors with 2 nets. so you're going for the whole time.

I'll PM you the contact into tomorrow it you'd like.

Did you get my pm?
I've done two so far, and it's awesome. I was going to schedule a private 30 min lesson on the Wednesday before my last game just to build up some confidence. An hour will kill me, no doubt!

I strained/tore my MCL a month ago playing drop-in goalie going down into butterfly. Anybody with similar experiences, and how to avoid this from happening again in the future? I'm pretty sketch about playing goal again, willing to give up the position that's dislocated my shoulder and screwed my good knee in just over a year.

I was out for about 3 months or more with an MCL injury when a forward crashed the net and fell on top of me while I was in the butterfly. I was at the top of my crease making a save as he was rushing in backwards. Next time I think I will hack their legs or give a push or two, at least draw some contact to make sure they know I'm there. My mindset now is that if they're gonna crash the net try to move out of the way if possible or turtle. But I haven't had any formal training so I'm not sure what is best technique.

As far as recovery, I iced the knee every night (10-15 mins on and off, or however long I can bear it) and basically just stayed off it. Rehab consisted of waiting for the pain and discomfort to go away before hitting the bike and gradually increasing intensity. Progressed to jogging and other physical activity afterwards. Also remember to stretch and recover flexibility.

Most of the advice I received was that biking was very good for strengthening the knee back again. Good luck

Anyone know of a place that does Stick and Wheel year round?

skiiipi 07-30-2013 12:29 AM

Hey guys,

I was on the phone today with one of the managers at the Richmond Centre Sportchek/Hockey Experts
and one of the main discussion was about price matching online competitors such as Hockey Monkey.

we realize that a large amount of "savy" shoppers are trying on the gear at stores then ordering the gear online thru one of the online retailers, the question is, if select sport chek hockey expert locations were to price match these online retailers would you guys start purchasing more of your gear from these stores?

Yes. An issue that consumers would deal with purchasing online is the amount of time it takes to do returns.

Also (this is just my personal preference), but when purchasing goods, I like to get them in person whenever possible.

Yeah I did! Now I need to find a time to do it. Nursing a nagging rib injury right now....
