My season ended this past sunday. Gonna wash my gear this weekend. I've replaced the skins and elbows 3 weeks ago so the only thing I need to clean is the skates and boy do they stink. Eeeeekkkk.... Gonna get new pants so I am not going to bother washing those this time around. |

Some guys I know they don't even air it out. Lol Posted via RS Mobile |
Some people's sweat stinks way worse than others. So i can see some extreme cases that result in washing gear. Personally, i've never washed my gear, just air it out after playing, and that about does it for me. Only thing that i don't like is wet gear lol. |
all it takes is ONE time of not airing out, and the gear is rancid! I spray my gloves with a non scented anti viral/bacterial spray every so often |

I knoooooow...there' s a guy I play with at UBC and the SECOND he opens his bag, everyone in the room holds their breath LOL. With gear, it's not so much the sweat, but the accumulation of bacteria within the fabrics of the gear. They grow and fester in it, which is potentially actually toxic to you. All you need is a cut and the wrong moment, and that's how staph infections start up. It'll make you sick, and at worst, develop into limb/digit removal. Chris Higgins was out a couple seasons ago because of it. With gloves, given its use, I would spray and dry EVERY time. There's a dude in Ontario that makes this AWESOME spray which deodorizes AND kills bacteria. It's worked better than ANYTHING i've tried. ANYTHING. Fresh DeStink Odour Eliminating Sports Spray made by hollywoodmd Get it. NOW. As for equipment washing, I'm more than happy to help. Drying wise, anyone with a bit of indoor space, Get this: Rocket Sport Dryer - The Hockey Shop Source for Sports | Bauer, CCM, Warrior, Reebok, Vaughn, Brians, Gongshow, NHL, Goalie i have one, and it works WONDERS. Just make sure your shit is clean first then start using it. |

i spray isoproyl alcohol mixed with water after every game and it seems to work |

AND works better. |
what do you mean it lasts longer? like the gear itself? because its quite a small bottle for 20 something dollars after shipping. |

I got 2 of them and each bottle lasts me about 2-3 months. Spraying ALL my goalie equipment after every game (3-5/week) In comparison, I was burning through rubbing alcohol at about 1.5-2 weeks per large bottle It's a mist style spray instead of the spread style of common bottles. So its distribution is more even and conservative. I noticed that the scent lasts longer, and penetrates the material + neutralizes the stink pretty good. The natural oils used also helps prevent and/or decrease a lot of that "hardness" on the palm from crusting. and the smell is a minty/pine kinda smell. Not too strong. stays around pretty good. I'd get the De-Crust version. |
gonna try out a couple bottles. hope it works! |

Actually had a guy skate up to me a couple weeks ago when I went down with a puck to the knee, and after he was like "dude....you smell like gain". LOL!! Although it IS widely believed, that used goalie gloves are the new type of weaponry that will be used in future chemical warfare..... |
Is anyone else playing Planet Ice at the Richmond Olympic Oval this winter? |

|
Yeah, there's no ASHL there but there is Planet Ice. Different organization runs it. 30 games guaranteed with the chance to play in provies if you win your division. |

From what I heard, Planet Ice just outbid ASHL for the contract. |
my coast team is moving to oval planet ice. Posted via RS Mobile |
Nice! Are you guys playing in the top div? We're the Penguins. Played Div 2 GPF today and beat the defending champs, curious to see how the Oval league stacks up. |
