sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk I think I'm going to buy those demo Ritual Pro 32+1.5s if they end up fitting. This might be a big day for everyone on this thread! hhaha Speaking of the THS demo sale: did anyone else pick anything up? |
I stopped by and checked out what they had. Lots of pads and glove/ blocker combos. I ended up grabbing a new sham sweat band, and some new laces. I was a bit financially strapped by that point. :p The rituals are a nice pad. Watch out for warrior's quality though. My pants are beat after 6 months of use. Shredded seams, and lots of wear. I love the innovation of warrior, but am not too keen on their long term quality. Good luck! |

Tried on the Rituals today. Holy thighrise batman! I'm currently in Vaughn V2s 34+1 that my knees land on the bottom half of the stack. Tried on the 32+1.5 Rituals. The knees were perfect. However, the thighrise felt like what a +3 would feel like on a Vaughn pad. It was pretty crazy. With the single break below the knee and having to rely on the straps to close my 5-hole, it wasn't the pad for me. As much as I wanted to buy them just because, I decided to save my money for either a 32+1 G2 set or a 33+1 GNetik set, which fit much better (and had a double break). Tried the SZII glove. Hot damn what a glove. Everything that the GNetik catcher is, with more familiar finger loops. The best of both worlds for sure. |
Whoever is going to The Hockey Shop's demo skate sale tomorrow, please update with models/prices. Thanks! Posted via RS Mobile |
^You can call in if you're in a bind. They're really helpful on the phone I found (well, at least the goalies were). |
I'm not actually looking. Just curious what they have and for how much. Posted via RS Mobile |
Hi all, i'm about to join a beginners hockey team. and i was checking the prices and sportchek in canada is cheaper then hockey monkey. is that where you guys all buy gear? |
Yea, the mid leveled stuff at Sportschek is sufficient enough for beginners hockey. Make sure to sign up for their team assist coupons to get 20% off any item. https://team.sportchek.ca/pages/home.jsp?pn=season |
Yep Rev's correct on both fronts. Hockeymonkey has to be 30-50% cheaper than local for me to consider it. The current exchange rate on a CC is ~13-16%, and if you factor in mailbox cost, gas, and time it's not worth it to me to make the trip just to save 5% in the end. That said, ever since I got my NEXUS pass I've been looking more and more. HM and IW seem to always have 15-20% off sales, and their inline gear is almost always at least 30% cheaper than local. But if you're wary about shipping to Blaine, I (along with family and friends) have had luck getting a price break at The Hockey Shop in Surrey. Just mention that an online retailer is selling for significantly cheaper, and more often than not they'll drop the price a bit (if not match). |
what are the top 3 online hockey shop websites? I know a lot of people recommended me Hockey Equipment & Gear | Hockey Sticks & Skates | Ice Hockey Helmets & Gloves | HockeyMonkey.com |
That's probably first in my books. Hockey Giant, InlineWarehouse are huge too. I find HM the cheapest 9 times out of 10 though. |

The headtech at the lougheed Sportchek just spent 4 days with the Equipment Managers of the San Jose Sharks sharpening and riveting skates. The Head Tech of the Richmond Sport Chek had training with one of the guys that sharpened skates for Team Canada during the 2010 Olympics. But you are right, they also have their fair share of duds. |
Question to those who've broken in new C/A's: Does your unit "stretch out" in terms of fit? My 11Ks had "short-ish" arms (via adjustment) because they were a bit long and interfering with my gloves. After 2 games, the arms seemed to slip towards my hands (I could tell because the elbows were at my forearms. But when I went to check everything, nothing came undone. Anyways, I tightened the arms further thinking that they just stretched out. Thoughts? |

I just tried on my C/A after tightening the arms. Felt like when I first bought them lol The last 2 games played with them were awesome. Can't wait for them to settle. And on another topic- why can't it be May so I can buy some GNetik 5.0s / Ritual G2 Pro :( |

But I've lusted over these since they came out in late 2010. Plus they're in such good condition. In an attempt to get the wife off my ass, I donated my old (but still mint shape) Reeboks to a nice kid who plays in net with really old gear. His family doesn't have a lot of money, plus he volunteers a ton of time in the roller hockey community. So I told him, "Know those pads I've been lending you for the last few weeks? You can keep em, man. Just continue doing the great things you've been doing, and say no to drugs". He was happy, as a new owner of $800 pads. I was happy because the wife couldn't bitch me out. And hopefully it's something that will make his life better. Also, I got new pads. :D PS: I missed your call last week. I was on the ice at the time, then I fell ill with the flu. Sorry man! |

So I don't have pictures of my stance because my gf gets too cold, but here's a video of a recent blunder! :toot: |
Haha at the end :okay: Playing back in net for the spring season, can't wait :) Posted via RS Mobile |
lol serves me right. I just jabbed at the puck forward and not sideways :( I was trying to find something successful to post, but there wasn't anything in 8 mins of cut footage :derp: |
We need a goalie and a couple of more skaters for a 2hour slot this Saturday from 10pm-midnight in vancouver. Is anyone down? Free for goalies and only $10bucks for skaters. Noob friendly, there will be quite a bit of newbies playing. Posted via RS Mobile |
Where's the game in Vancouver? I'd be interested in playing goal, been a while since the kid was born |
