Adding a data plan to my plan? I'm looking to add some sort of data plan to my plan as I will be getting a smartphone from rogers. Not too sure which one yet, but I have narrowed it down to the 8900 BB or the E71 Nokia. If you have advice on that too, it would be great. Anyways, back on topic. I'm looking to add a data plan to my retentions plan. My plan so far is: 275 daytime unlimited weekends/evenings unlimited text messaging caller ID + 3 way + call waiting rogers to rogers For $20 + SAF + 911 + Taxes = $30.74 I'm looking to add some sort of data plan that will let me do the BB to BB msgs and GPS. Not looking for a really crazy data plan but looking for something basic. But if there is a good deal, please mention it! Thanks! |
I'd reccomend the 30$ Data value Package. I dont think you can get the 10$ off credit anymore but its still a heck of a deal. Its got 500mb of data, 10K text, 10k MMS, Enhanced Voicemail, and CID + Namedisplay. All you really need is a voice plan to suit your needs and get rid of your previous add ons since this has them included. Ive got an E71 on this plan and its pretty solid. GPS with Garmin and Google maps, along with Latitude and Opera mini and your set. I had a Bold before i started my data and it wudve rocked on this data plan. If i had it still id prob have kept it. Blackberry Messenger and the email on BB are supreme though. Depends what your needs are. |
^the $30 plan doesn't exist anymore. It's now $35, fyi. |

Hmm, I already have those options so couldn't I simply get out of my original options and get that money off of the 35 value back? |
You could ask for a $5 discount or something. |
fuck data with 8900 unless itsjust for email/pinning in all honesty, after going 3g, edge seems like crap might as well go the e71 or get the bold instead of the 8900 |
Well I don't plan on browsing the shit out of the internet when I'm on the phone.. All I really want is like IM and GPS |
I have almost the same retentions plan as you and have a BB 8900. my bills were 35.xx before the data plan. I added the $35 plan over the phone last week, and the lady waived the fees on a bunch of the features im getting, and my monthly bill only went up $10. that was pretty cool considering I didn't ask for anything she did |

If you can, grab your phone bill and list off what you have and what was waived... That is if you're comfortable. THANKS. |
it only shows 3 things on my online profile which doesnt appear to have been updated yet * Digital Call Display Credit - To be removed on 21/10/2011 * Incoming Calling Opt. Cr - To be removed on 21/10/2011 * Rogers to Rogers 3Yr Bonus - To be removed on 21/10/2011 i'll let you know more when my bill comes |
Anyone else with ideas? I look on rogers and they have an unlimited text, IM and e-mail that includes caller ID and other things for $25... http://www.rogers.com/web/content/wi...d_Phones-_-Q45 I don't know if I would want that though and how much data would I use if I'm only using it for IM, e-mail and GPS? I don't plan on surfing the net. |
wow $35 for the data bundle now wtf talk about rip and 500mb is more than enough if your phone has wifi *EDIT* oops you said you won't be surfing the net I'd say 25 MB minimum if you're gonna be using email/gps. Get a GPS program like iGO 8 or garmin so you won't need to use data to load the maps. Google maps is good, but it does use data, and has no turn by turn. |

hahaha I was looking at the BB plans now.. not cool. |
Alright guys, thanks for all the feedback, looks like I will be calling tomorrow... Any other advise or anything? let me know! Thanks again! |
I think your best bet if you want IM and email is a blackberry plan I dont think you'll regret it |
n/m got answered. |
does the basic blackberry plan includes IM messaging (like MSN)?? I know the blackberry messaging is free, but not sure about MSN messaging... can someone confirm? I am in the same boat, planning to use the blackberry for email and MSN messaging only. What's the BEST deal out there, including minimal talktime minutes since I have a company phone already. |
ya i read that it includes msn since it uses the blackberry network? im trying to get this plan but gotta call rogers tmw to get a better discount on upgrading my phone plan and phone. i think this is the best plan, i think its ending march 3rd? |
