| Body Shop Info...
Hey everyone,
I'm just wondering if anyone could point a "newbie" out regarding getting a body kit painted. The body kit is painted w/ a different color, and wondering:
1.) Where you'd recommend to get it painted for a good price and good quality job?
2.) How much do you think it would run me for a front, sideskirts, and rear?
Thanks in advance , and again...take it easy on the newbie!

there are plenty of places with a variety of prices and quality.
1) what is your budget?
2) how well do you want it done?
3) how many pieces ?
4) what is the kit made of? fiberglass? polyurethane? abs plastic?
5) what car is it going on?
6) what color is kit currently painted? and what color do you want it to be?
front and sideskirts + run.. it will run you atleast $1000 for a decent to good job.
some can be done for 600~800 ..

Thanks Nite Raven, it's 4 pieces, i'm not sure what material it is, but it's the A-Spec bodykit for a Black 08 TL...and the color of the kit came in Beige, haha!
I was quoted by the dealership for $430...i'm just wondering if i could save a bit! Thanks!

if it's an OE lip/skirt kit it should have be poly or abs plastic much like the bumper cover materials. $430 seems decent. industry standard for that kind of work. Essentially sand and paint.
I'd ask them where they sublet their work to from the dealership. Which dealership did you get that quote from?

I got the quote from Middlegate Honda, the parts advisor said that they "know a good bodyshop that they deal with" -- i thought they do it in-house, but i didn't ask cause i was too excited w/ the deal i got.
Middlegate Honda A-Spec body kit (complete) for $817 taxes in...Clearing out their stock, but inventory/color is really low!

I'd say go with that deal.
the bodyshop will do a decent job because they want to retain dealership business in the long run.
in this case you win.
did you talk to Hector from Middlegate?

Man, you're awesome at replying immediately No, i talked to Nathan and Tom.
So you don't think i'll get it anywhere lower, huh? I just thought that it's a dealership = they'd charge more...how about other places that Revscene members go? I don't know...i'm so cheap i guess, haha!
Thanks again for the quick reply!

in this case I think Tom and Nathan aren't marking up the cost they get it from the bodyshop. 4 pieces sand and refinish + clear is typically $400 minimum ($100 per piece with overlapping paint times). You maybe able to get it cheaper at some other shops, but it's all about accountability.
I can't remember Tom actually.. bald old fart? |

haha I know plenty of places as I was once in the bodyshop industry.
hoooowever, given the quote that you stated I think it's a decent deal.
the question now is, which bodyshop will they sublet that out to..
with that it will answer the quality of work question.
shops close to their vicinity that does good work :
Starlite comes to mind.
