| Nicotine, is it true ?
i was wondering is it better chance to get cancer if you light up a cigarette with higher nitcotine content than the lower one ?
comparing XXX Brand Regular and XXX Barnd Light cigarette (same brand), the regular one taste stronger than the light one, but does that also mean it contains higher nicotine ?

Nicotine the substance that gets you addicted to cigarettes. It is all the other shit in there that will cause your cells to mutate and become cancerous cell. Not to mention the ones that don't become cancer cells become dead cells.
And I believe taste is related to menthol levels amongst other things.

nicotine does not cause cancer.. its all the other shit thats thrown in there that kills you.
some people say that the lighter cigarettes have more preservatives/carcinogens in them.
also the biggest money suck ever. a smoker trying to save money is the most counterproductive concept since ordering a diet coke with a supersized big mac meal.

Nicotine DOES cause cancer - it gets metabolized into nitrosamines which are carinogenic.
In response to the initial question, although theoretically light cigarettes may have less risk of cancer than regulars cigarettes, studies have shown that the risk of cancer (lung, oral etc) is the same. The theory is that subconsciously your body realizes that there is less nicotine in a light cigarette so you end up inhaling more and for longer.
Hope that helps!
and yeah, you should stop smoking if you want a good motivator, try this:
Take in a deep breath.
Now try breathing ON TOP of that.
Now imagine that's how you have to breath every day. That's COPD and what your lungs will be like in 30 years if you keep smoking.

You just end up smoking more light cigarettes anyway. Be a man and cut the filter off your cigarette before smoking it. It will help save Canada Pension Plan some money.

When a cigarette is called light it means it's litgher tasting not lighter ans in less ncotine or less harmfull. You can't even use the world light on cigarette packs anymore.

^ not entirely true.
and despite what the self-titration theory says, I know from first hand experience that if you do smoke say 0.1mg nic 1.0mg tar smokes, and keep the same smoking habits (1morning, after meals, before sleep etc) the net effect is a lower stream of nicotine going into your blood.
especially helps if you limit the number of smokes you have on hand.

easiest way to quit i found 1.5yrs is to start quitting when youre sick with the flu....bedridden with cranberry juice. supposedly it increases half-life of nicotine or it eliminates it or something. i forgot where i heard that.
but yeah, i slept it off for like 3days...then went to 1smoke a day max (i'd half butt it. take a puff or 2, enough to feel human again, then put it out. that way, i'm totally limiting the amount of nicotine). after a week, i coudlnt even light one. one drag tasted like drinking quinine outta the tank!!!

I've gotten alot better now, only about a pack every week or half. But I swear, the less i smoke, the more i hate the taste. But its a work in progress.

Its called Nicotine Replacement Therapy.
The patches increase the amount of Nicotine going into your body so that you grow addicted to the patch, instead of cigarettes.
After about two weeks or so, you no longer have cigarette cravings at all.
The patch doses are then gradually decreased over time until you're completely weaned off.
NRT has a statistical success rate of about 66%.
If you're one of the more hardcore smokers out there (I'm thinking Marlboro Man types), then the other solution is to use a drug called a Nicotinic Blocker (e.g. Buproprion). Basically, your body has Acetylcholine receptors that also bind to and are activated by Nicotine. The use of the Nicotinic Blocker thereby reduces the intensity of Nicotine's actions.

When you exert yourself (e.g. sweating/heart beating), your body produces its own hormones called endorphins, which make you relaxed and happier.
By running right out of bed, your body will be more relaxed and happier throughout the day, reducing the need for a cigarette to calm you down.

it was longest 3 days | the gum isn't used to help you stop cold turkey...its meant as a way to slowly cut back..when you feel the craving, take a piece of gum (don't actually chew it)
It won't really help much if you are a social smoker because it is used to fight the physical urges...not the social atmosphere that comes with smoking.
