My son is almost 7, and he's heard so much crap about Surrey in the news that one day he said to me "good thing we don't live in Surrey".

HE IS 7! :lol

US Border Patrol agent fatally shoots man near town on US-Canada border | Globalnews.ca

Update to that Sumas thing:

Quote:

SUMAS, Wash. (NEWS1130) – American officials say a man fatally shot by a US Border Patrol agent Thursday near the Sumas border was wanted for murder in another jurisdiction.

A US Customs and Border Protection statement says border patrol agents responded when a sensor along the border was activated near the crossing at around 2:30 p.m.

In the statement, Blaine chief patrol agent Dan Harris Jr. says the man failed to follow verbal requests and displayed “erratic and threatening behaviour” before spraying the agent with an unidentified chemical.

Harris says the agent opened fire and killed the man, and the agent was then transported for medical treatment.

Whatcom County sheriff Bill Elfo did not say where the suspect is wanted for murder during today’s news conference.

He did say investigators found a hatchet inside a backpack that the man was carrying.

We live in the tower right across from that one, our window faces where it happened

GF asked what that was and I kinda jokingly said gun play cuase it sounded quite muffled. Fire trucks and ambulances are at that tower non stop

Spoilered for length. But a time line of the shootings over the last month. It seems like a lot when you hear about them each day, but when you actually see a time line it is nuts how many there are.

Spoiler!

also, no racist (or sexist), but whats the ratio of south-east-asian guys to not south-east-asian guys involved? Honest question.

What a disgrace for the Punjabi community. As a Punjabi male who grew up in south Van during the Bindy Johal days I can honestly say the gang problem nowadays is far worst. And the saddest part is most of these kids come from middle class homes, live a pretty damn good life, get cars from mommy and daddy but yet get into drugs so they can be all macho and act tough. Damn shame if you ask me.

The ratio is 0:1 since none of them are south east Asian. Although all but a few guys in the article appear to be punjabi. Which is a region of Northwest India which is itself part of South Asia.

They do however mention somalians in the article, which is odd since I don't see many outside of whalley. I wasn't aware there were any Somalian gangs in Surrey. And none of the people on the article appear to be Somalian. So I dunno where they are getting Somalian from

StylinRed 04-15-2015 04:06 AM

on tv i believe there were several more people shown in the mugshots

but i could only find this one with just a few more

Shooting in Surrey hours after Mounties declare 'turf war' | News1130

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Just hours after police in Surrey and Delta publicly named the suspects in a series of shootings over the past six weeks, there has been even more gunplay. Mounties say people in two cars opened fire at each other along 66th Avenue and 128th Street early this morning.

Both police forces say the shootings are linked to low-level drug trade and are calling this a ‘turf war.’

Mounties haven’t had much luck with the people involved because they’re not cooperating with investigators, instead they’ve released their photos with the hope others will come forward with information.

SFU Criminologist Rob Gordon says it can be a useful technique. “Usually when they release the photographs, it’s a shaming exercise which may or may not work. It depends very much on how connected the individual is to their community.”

Harvey Specter 04-15-2015 01:14 PM

I think these guys want their pictures out so they're more feared and gain street cred. Doubt it'll put a stop to this BS unless they're picked up and thrown in jail.

This is the reason Deepa Mehta is making the Bindy Johal film.

not a local shooting but

Canadian Consul General in Miami Florida, Roxanne Dube

https://postmediaottawacitizen2.file...=100&strip=all

Both her sons are alleged to have attempted to rob a marijuana dealer in Miami, the older brother, 17, was 1 of 2 ppl killed and there were also 2 more people injured. today the younger brother, 15, has been charged with murder as an adult

Quote:

...

The brothers' mother is Roxanne Dubé, a longtime Canadian diplomat who recently became consul general in Miami.

Several shots fired, police say

Investigators allege the brothers had gone to a home with the intention of stealing marijuana from a dealer. While the younger sibling waited with the car outside, the older teen went inside.

Several shots were fired inside the home, police allege, and Marc Wabafiyebazu rushed into the house but exactly what he did after that is not clear.

Officers who arrived at the scene found the older Wabafiyebazu and Wright dead inside.

Two other men, including Anthony Rodriguez, 19, the alleged dealer, were wounded and needed hospital treatment.

According to police reports, the Wabafiyebazu brothers — who had only recently relocated from their father's home in Ottawa to South Florida to be with their mother — took her personal vehicle with its diplomatic plates to the alleged drug meeting.
