SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Both men shot last night in Surrey have now died.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over a case.

It happened at 159th Street and 110th Avenue near an elementary school. One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the other passed away in the hospital this morning.

One person called to say she was told it was a drive-by shooting around 7:30 p.m.

Pictures on social media show a car with a tarp over top of it and fireworks leaning against the vehicle.

“It is early in the investigation, but police are making every effort to establish the motive for the shooting. We ask that the public exercise vigilance, while we work to find justice for our victims and their families,” says Corporal Meghan Foster.

The victims have been identified as 24-year-old Vikram Toor and 19-year-old Ashim Raza.

IHIT is still trying to determine if the shootings were targetted.

Yea my parents place is like 3-4 blocks away.

If you look up the cross streets mentioned there was another shooting either at the same house or next door in 2012

Harvey Specter 10-29-2016 08:48 PM

My buddy purchased fireworks from one of the victims few days ago. Him and his dad had a shop setup on Victoria Drive.

Mr.Money 10-29-2016 10:53 PM

is this a gang war between each other or just random gangs having fun killing each other getting bored?

I love all the comments on articles about this stuff from people saying we live in a wasteland with no police control of these situations and how gun control clearly didn't work.

Get a grip, an average weekend in Chicago has 50-70 shootings. Surrey gets 1 a month and everyone loses their shit FailFish

Are you making a joke or did you actually come to that conclusion from the information you've read?

This shooting was "independent from gangland violence" which is what brought me to the conclusion. Still a lot of unanswered questions.

Hondaracer 10-31-2016 10:10 AM

If you search the one kids name there is a post on FB by some seemingly prominent EI community figure.

Apperrnrly the kids parents went in Red FM a few months back talking about gang violence and how they wanted he RCMP to arrest their kids before they were killed

6o4__boi 10-31-2016 10:12 AM

hard to say if its really "independent from gangland violence"...lots of kids out there with no "official affiliation" or no criminal records per se but have some associations with the wrong people

i can think of a few people who are "clean" (ie 9-5s relatively straight-arrows) and have never been nailed for anything but ocassionally hang out with known gang-affiliated people

tegra7 10-31-2016 05:23 PM

And why was there a box of fireworks leaned against the side of the victims car when both occupants were seated inside the vehicle when they were shot? Friends of Vikram Toor say he was a good kid who had moved to Surrey from India after both his parents passed away.

Harvey Specter 10-31-2016 07:02 PM

^
I grew up in the Moberly area back in the 90's and I saw a lot of "good" kids getting involved with the wrong people just to make a quick buck and getting killed for nothing. Unfortunately it's always the weakest guy in the group that does the dumbest shit and is left holding the bag when shit goes down.

tegra7 10-31-2016 07:25 PM

^I'm east/south van born and raised. I was quite young at the time but still remember my parents visiting/comforting their friends who had lost their sons to drug violence back in the bindy johal days. I was quite the shithead myself in my teenage years and was losing friends as well. Was really an eye opener to see that young guys are getting killed over a few hundred bucks.

Harvey Specter 10-31-2016 08:35 PM

Too many kids nowadays are turning to drugs and easy money because there's not much out there if you don't grad HS plus it's easier to obtain a gun compared to 90's or early 2000's so you're seeing senseless murders increase. I personally feel the problem is getting worse and I don't see it getting better any time soon.

Kids here need a dose of reality.

I have no pity for someone who doesn't graduate HS here, honestly. HS here is a joke, there is absolutely no reason not to.

If they were poor starving kids in South America or Africa, sure, I'll give them a pass. But *here*, of all places?

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is looking into a brazen shooting that left one man dead and another with life-threatening injuries in Langley overnight.

Shots were fired near the Brown’s Social House restaurant, on 200 Street near the Langley bypass just before midnight.

One of the men was pronounced deceased at scene and the second man was transported to hospital.

Investigators say the shooting appears to be targeted.

“This was a brazen shooting in a busy restaurant putting the public at risk. We urge anyone with information regarding this shooting to contact police,” says Corporal Meghan Foster.
