My buddy use to be a guard and now is a probation officer. One his clients was a kid in his early 20's. The guy was a few months shy of being 18 when he got sentenced. The judge put him in Adult jail. He was raped and abused by the other inmates on a regular basis.

not sure but i've heard of people wanted by powerful people end up stabbed and killed as favors in canada jail.

USA jail is a lot worse. they'll allow you to do anything to anyone if they have bad history.

Was at the police line on Columbia 7mins after it happened - saw the immediate aftermath from my window and went outside.

Cops shot a guy. 3-4 shots. Street witnesses say he was holding a broken broom stick or something. The absolutely uppity, confrontational officer at the tape line said "you stab a cop in head and you're gonna get fucking shot". Here's the thing, no cop appeared injured when I was at my window 4 seconds after hearing the shots. But hey, we don't really know yet. And I'm not saying that with any sarcasm.

I didn't hear any commotion until after the shots. The street was quiet, actually. I did notice that, as I live on that block and am accustomed to the regular noise.

The ambulance arrived and said the guy had a pulse, and was breathing.

Police have a history of acting like douches in the DTES so I'm not surprised if this was just a power tripping cop that escalated the situation as the witness suggests

working the dtes beat i'm sure is one of the, if not the hardest areas. i'm sure also highly scrutinized as well. not just for police but other 1st responders, paramedics, etc etc.

i've done projects down there and many years ago and i'm sure it's even more difficult to work down there these days
