People stealing shit off my porch that’s 30 feet from the curb and up 15 steps, it’s not too far off.

Stayed at a hotel in Bosnia that would leave their patio furniture out at night and not get stolen, not here though :concentrate:

I'm surprised you haven't shot any of those thieves yet.

Might be time to check out some nicer areas of the burbs for peace of mind, Honda. I’ve left my garage door wide open overnight more than once and luckily nothing has been stolen. Easily 1K in golf clubs, 2K in bikes sitting right there for the taking. Not to mention the Honda ruckus, tools etc with the interior door to the house from the garage being unlocked as well. Not bragging about that but dude, being impressed about patio furniture not being stolen in Bosnia is definitely an experience you can enjoy here. I’ve never even thought about protecting my patio furniture lol

Well yea, I could live in Surrey or Langley and have the same experience in most sub divisions etc.

I think outside of like shaugnessy/Dunbar area maybe Vancouver proper is pretty much the same situation. I’ve never really had a problem before but I know many people who I have as customers who live in whatever the area is called between boundary and Victoria and south of Kingsway have told me petty crime is rampant with people coming into their yards all the time etc.

I live in that area and had been for a long time, except for 2013-2020, but my parents still lived there even though I moved out.

I'm not sure if you just disproportionately deal with ppl who've been a victim or you are cherry picking. Yes there are porch pirates and all that shit as I am part of the FB group in the area, but they exist everywhere across most of Vancouver and Burnaby and New West that I know of. God forbid you live near a skytrain station. Honestly coyotes is probably a bigger threat than ppl stealing shit.

When I lived in Clayton there were people who would test your doors house and garage and scope your yard out on the regular. I'd see the crackheads roaming around on their stolen bikes all the time, this was in a neighbourhood with all new homes but most people had renters which brought a lot of skids into it.

I moved a 25 minute walk away 3 years ago to a Culdesac in older Cloverdale, nobody has renters and I have no worries at all. Half my neighbours are home all day, never anyone on the street that doesn't live here, no Alley to creep into my backyard, it's like night and day.

Feel like it’s a pretty general sample I’ve talked to and all over the area

Albeit security cameras and whatnot are a blessing and a curse as you see shit you normally wouldn’t see/notice

Great68 02-26-2023 03:05 PM

You don't have to have an immediate fear of being home invaded to care about what the outcomes might be should that scenario ever occur.

Manic! 02-27-2023 10:51 AM

If you guys are so scared about a crack head kicking in your door you may want to fortify your door.

Mikoyan 02-27-2023 04:02 PM

They're more likely to pry open a ground floor window be uae it's quieter.

Another mass shooting in the U.S.

A 28 year old woman shot and killed 3 kids, and 3 adults in Nashville, Tennessee. :heckno:

https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/nas...-23/index.html

At least three children and three adults are dead after a shooting Monday at the Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, that teaches preschool through 6th grade, police said.

The shooter, who was identified as a 28-year-old Nashville woman, was killed during gunfire with police, authorities said. Her identity and motive is yet to be confirmed.

A student reunification center has been set up at Woodmont Baptist Church, located at 2100 Woodmont Blvd.

Monday morning's shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, is the 129th mass shooting in the US so far in 2023, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive.

68style 03-27-2023 11:00 AM

That is unheard of actually... a woman shooter let alone mass shooter... I wonder if this is actually even the first one? In recent memory anyway.

MG1 03-27-2023 11:36 AM

129 mass shootings and they (US) haven't even hit April yet.

god bless america

Traum 03-27-2023 11:52 AM

Personally, the Toronto TTC stabbing death of a 16 yrs old teen hits me much harder than this Nashville woman shooter. :(

And then there is the TTB bus stabbing as well.

WTF is wrong with Toronto? :(

Manic! 03-27-2023 11:52 AM

Florida just allowed concealed carry with out any training or permits. So anyone that is 21 and older can walk around with a hand gun. America is fucked.

68style 03-27-2023 01:04 PM

Almost... it's 1 step away from the governor signing it into law... but fun fun

JDMDreams 03-27-2023 03:24 PM

Man can't even get a star bucks without getting stabbed, I hope the Singh guy gets it

Manic! 03-27-2023 04:45 PM

Looks like the shooter was trans and the school was a Christian school. Tennessee had just banned drag shows and gender affirming care for children.

America really is turning into a shit hole.

StylinRed 03-27-2023 05:24 PM

6thGear. 03-27-2023 05:59 PM

There's a video circulating of the immediate aftermath. Not a pretty sight.
