COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) - No one was hurt in Metro Vancouver's latest shooting.

It happened around 11 p.m. near Farrow Street and Smith Avenue in Coquitlam.

Several shots were fired at a home.

RCMP Sergeant Alex Borden says the shooting covered a lot of ground.

"To try and narrow it down to a specific area, we had reports from all the way from Clarke Road to North Road to Farrow Street. But this was an incident that took place over a bit of area."

Police also found several shell casings on the ground.

The shooting was not a targeted hit.

However, Mounties say it's too early in the investigation to confirm whether the home is known to them or what the motive might have been.

Turns out the fight in Coquitlam was a fight between two groups...

ANCOUVER (CBC) - Police in Coquitlam, B.C., were investigating Saturday after gunshots were fired in a residential neighbourhood Friday night.

It appears two groups of males got into an argument in the 700 block of Farrow St. near Clarke Rd. in Coquitlam, the RCMP said in a news release.

One of the men grabbed a handgun from a car and fired between eight and 10 shots at the other group of men.

No one was injured, but a nearby resident told police a bullet came through his window and hit a wall inside his house.

The shooter left the scene with two other men in a dark SUV.

The RCMP has not identified any suspects. It is not known whether the incident was gang-related.

Since the start of the year, at least 11 people have been killed in what police have called targeted shootings linked to a gang war over the illegal drug trade.

This is the 10th shooting in Metro Vancouver this month.

Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu praised the latest charges stemming from a major operation called Project Rebellion, targeting the city's most violent gangs.

RCMP say it's incredible that no one was injured or killed.

And after the latest shooting around 11:30 Friday night in Coquitlam, Corporal Peter Thiessen says it's sad to see how some young people are dealing with their problems now, "Teenagers, 20 something young men involved in some type of dispute, and they simply pull a handgun that they have readily available, in their vehicle. It's pretty concerning. They don't seem to care one way or another."

Thiessen says an argument of some kind broke out at a McDonald's restaurant parking lot on Clark Road.

One of the men involved got a handgun from his vehicle and fired off anywhere from 8 to 12 shots at another group of men.

One of those shots happened to go right through the window of a nearby home and lodge into the wall of the home.

Thiessen says it's amazing no one was hurt or killed.

It's not clear if this is gang related, and there is no suspect description at this time.

Anyways, another shooting last night on Kingsway

"VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver Police have Kingsway Ave. closed between Earles St. and Slocan St. while they investigate Metro Vancouver’s latest shooting.

The shots fired call came in just before 2:30 a.m. Police say a man in his thirties was hit and is now in hospital with unknown injuries.

Witnesses say they saw a Ranger Rover take off eastbound on Kingsway.

It’s not known if this shooting has any connection to the rash of shootings that have hit Metro Vancouver since mid-January."

Kev

My girlfriend and I had a good suspicion this is what happened because we observed a stream of police cars flying up Kingsway at Knight Street around 2:30am.

About 10 minutes later, an ambulance rushed the other way with an undercover police escort.

Black SC2 03-09-2009 10:01 AM

8 to twelve shots at a group of people and hit no one.

saiko 03-09-2009 11:16 AM

Are these shootings costing a lot of tax money? ie.) Extra police work and even OT and ambulatory services?

HAHAHAHAHA :haha:

Whatever street cred this guy has as a tough guy just went out the window. 8 - 12 shots and not 1 hit? Does he close his eyes before he shoots?

411ken 03-09-2009 12:39 PM

^ Didn't this guy miss and hit a window of a house ?

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - In the West End of Vancouver, police were called to a convenience store on Denman near Nelson around 1:00 this morning after a man walked in bleeding heavily from a large cut behind his ear.

The clerk told the victim, believed to be in his 20's, to get out and called police. When they arrived the victim was gone and police were unable to locate him.
I guess the guy didn't pay up so the gangsters wanted to collect his ear but finish the job.
