not a shooting but related Quote: Kamloops RCMP seize large arsenal of weapons
By Doug Ward, Vancouver Sun
A Canadian anti-tank rocket launcher, seven rifles, two shotguns, 11 handguns and 30,000 to 40,000 rounds of ammunition were among the items seized in a raid on a Kamloops marijuana-growing operation this week.
A senior RCMP officer described the arsenal found during Wednesday's raid on a rural home on the outskirts of the city as one of the largest ever seized in Kamloops.
More than eight kilograms of marijuana, smaller amounts of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine, plus sophisticated growing equipment were also found, according to a police statement.
Other seized evidence included more than $200,000 worth of stolen goods, including a backhoe, a 2005 Corvette, a Dodge Durango and a dune buggy.
A 38-year-old man with no criminal record is scheduled to be charged on July 19, said a police spokesman...

Milad Saffari died in a hail of bullets Wednesday night in a Coquitlam parking lot.
The former Richmond resident was no stranger to violence. He was convicted of manslaughter back in 2004 for his role in the death of a grow-op caretaker. He was also convicted of assaulting another inmate in North Fraser Pretrial. He had many gang associations and a long list of enemies - a list police are now sorting through.
He was wounded in a shooting in North Vancouver in 2006 as well.

Vancouver man charged in city's sixth homicide of the year
The Province June 2, 2010
VANCOUVER — Police have charged 33-year-old Thomas Forster of Vancouver with second-degree murder after investigating the city's sixth homicide of the year.
A man's body was discovered inside an apartment at 1155 Seymour St. on Tuesday, after police responded to a 911 call that someone inside may be injured. Officers arrived to find a man in his 20s dead inside a suite.
Forster was arrested at the Vancouver International Airport later Tuesday by members of the VPD with the assistance of the RCMP.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday to determine the identity of the victim.
"The investigation has revealed no indication of a connection to gangs or drugs," said VPD spokeswoman Const. Jana McGuinness.

A 15-year-old boy is dead after being stabbed in front of the Victoria Times Colonist building on Douglas Street, near the Hillside Avenue intersection.
Around 8 p.m. Thursday, police were called to the stabbing.
The victim had a large wound, was bleeding profusely from his chest and was unresponsive, according to witnesses.
“He was totally silent,” said Michael Noel, who appeared on the bloodied sidewalk just moments later. “It was kind of messy by the time we [saw] it.”
Passersby were reluctant to help the victim because of the gore, Noel said. A flurry of people were on their cellphones afterward, some calling 911, he said.
Shortly before police arrived, a man was seen running from the scene.
Witnesses said there was no apparent discussion or argument between the two men and there was no sound from the stabbing.
“They didn’t talk to each other,” said one young man, who was waiting with his girlfriend before being taken to the police station for questioning.
A 39-year-old man walked into the Victoria Police Department about 15 minutes after fleeing the stabbing site and claimed responsibility.

One man is recovering from a minor gunshot wound after shots were fired in an East Vancouver neighbourhood Wednesday afternoon.
Police found the victim and another man sitting in a bullet-riddled car in the 1500-block of East 10th Avenue around 3 p.m., after they were called to the area with reports of shots fired.
The victim is in his early 20s. Police say they do not yet have a motive for the shooting.
No suspects are in custody and police say no suspect descriptions are available.

Wow just retarded, for all involved, the kids slashing the tires and the guy killing the kid. Quote:
METRO VANCOUVER — A suspect has been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting Wednesday of Adem Aliu, 17, of Surrey.
Supt. Dan Malo of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team announced Friday that 20-year-old Steven Brandon Mulligan-Brum is in court this morning after Crown approved the charges. Aliu was allegedly among a group of youths who had been slashing tires of parked cars nearby when police allege the driver of one of those cars caught up with and confronted Aliu before killing him.
Mulligan-Brum, who is known to police, was described by Malo as someone who "participates in the gang lifestyle."
Police responded to a shooting shortly before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 14100 block of 103 Avenue where they found a fatally wounded Aliu.
Police said Aliu and Mulligan-Brum did not know each other.
"Investigators have learned that the victim was with a group of other youths throughout the early morning hours; they had been engaged in drinking and conducting mischief by slashing tires on a number of vehicles in the area of the murder," police said in a statement.
"Investigators are alleging that the suspect came out to the street to confront the victim; he caught up to the group approximately two blocks later, at which point the suspect fired a gun at the victim causing the fatal injury."
Mulligan-Brum was quickly identified by police as a suspect and arrested Wednesday night.
“This clearly demonstrates that those involved in or with the gang lifestyle will go to any extent to protect their property," Malo said.
