Shit is spilling into Kelowna... except here they arent quite as good at it yet.

A shooting at the corner of Leon Avenue and Abbott Street has left at least one victim in hospital Tuesday evening.

At around 7 p.m. witnesses reported seeing a dark coloured SUV, possibly a Ford Bronco, shoot at a light coloured Nissan Sentra.

The Nissan turned onto Leon Avenue and coasted to a stop, witnesses say.

The occupants of the SUV then fired more shots at the car, before speeding away from the scene.

The occupants of the Nissan, which reportedly had an Alberta rental vehicle license plate, also drove away.

Police on scene confirmed that at least one victim involved in the shooting was at Kelowna General Hospital.

But RCMP declined to confirm if the injured party drove to hospital using the Nissan involved in the shooting.

A silver grey Nissan Sentra with an Alberta rental license plate was parked at the emergency entrance to KGH
, and police were present.

Leon Avenue is closed at Abbott Street as police continue to investigate.

No injuries, no suspects after home of Radio India's Maninder Gill hit by gunfire

Police call it a targeted shooting

The home of Radio India managing director Maninder Gill was the target of “heavy” gunfire just after midnight Monday.

Surrey RCMP said several 911 calls came in at around 12:30 a.m. reporting shots fired at a house near 121 Street and 56 Avenue.

The Gill family, which includes Gill’s wife and two adult children, was not injured but are shaken up, said Radio India host Gurpreet Singh, who talked to Gill at 6:30 a.m. this morning.

“He said it was more than 10 shots. He described it as ‘heavy firing,’” said Singh.

The front area of the house, including the living room and dining room, were hit with bullets.

“He’s concerned but he’s not afraid,” said Singh. “He is concerned for the welfare of his family and himself.”

Police are calling the incident a targeted shooting. No suspects are in custody.

Gill, 47, is facing several charges, including aggravated assault and two counts of discharging a weapon, in relation to a shooting at a wedding at Surrey’s Guru Nanak temple on Aug. 28.

The victim, 54-year-old Harjinder Singh Atwal, was shot in the leg with non-life-threatening injuries.

Gill, who has no previous criminal record, turned himself into police after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He was released on a $200,000 bail on Sept. 9 with a number of conditions, including a curfew. He is also forbidden to contact Atwal, three of Atwal’s associates and their families.

Gill and his colleague Sukhminder Singh Cheema have filed complaints with police over the past few months, claiming they have been threatened.

On Aug. 3, Atwal and two other men filed a civil suit against Gill and Radio India alleging they were the subject of defamatory comments. The suit is ongoing.

Gill’s next court appearance on the alleged shooting charges is Sept. 30.

I wonder if there is going to be any retaliation. Maybe not from Gill himself or his family, but perhaps his friends.

Regardless, if you live in Surrey... Watch yo 'self! :gun: :teeth:

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - There's been a fatal shooting at a Vancouver restaurant.

It's believed to have happened around 8 p.m. this evening at Happy Blossom Seafood at Kingsway and Victoria. One man is dead.

Police say they have no suspects in custody, and it's not known at this point if anyone else was hurt.

Callers tell us investigators are taking possible witnesses, some with their faces covered, out of the restaurant to be interviewed.

I think you're referring to the one on Fraser and Broadway. I know the family that owns and runs that restaurant. That shooting was unfortunate.

So what are you going to do about it?

Are you going go to the restaurant, grab a bowl of noodles, ask her how her day is, ask her what time she gets off and if she would like to go for drinks after work? :drool

No, you're just going to pussy out and stare at her from the corner table and jerk off when you get home. :jizz: :emo:

No, that's a different one.

I was at Happy Blossom last weekend really late... like 2:30am... seemed kinda sketchy, but there weren't many other places open at that time.

Yesterday, was driving up Kingsway heading to my in-laws right when all the emergency vehicles were arriving on the scene... was wondering what was giong down... knew it was something big based on the response though, with the cops, ambulances and firetrucks coming from all directions...

TRDood 09-24-2010 12:55 PM

I used to go to that restaurant all the time before... Until the last owners ran out of business or sold it.

Any restaurant can be sketchy if they cater to gangsters.
You don't need to be a CSI agent to spot these types.
They will be wearing Ed Hardy, Christian Audiger, Tapout, Dusault and have tattoos and gucci shades.
I'm not even stereotyping. I've seen it with my own eyes.
The smart ones are usually the bosses who stay low key and never get arrested

Before Happy Blossom it used to be a congee noodle type restaurant (Double Double?) Always busy. It was burned down few years back because of a grease fire in the kitchen's exhaust system, most likely from not following health and safety codes. That fire inadvertently destroyed a grow-op upstairs. It took them almost 11 months for Happy Blossom to renovate and open it's doors. Now this shit happens.

P.S. Thank you Methadone Clinic for opening your doors next door. All these shootings, prostitutes, druggies and stray needles really spruced up Victoria drive. Thank you so much!

My friend said the bullet wound looked like a flower blossom. A happy blossom.

InvisibleSoul 09-25-2010 01:17 AM

StylinRed 09-25-2010 03:42 AM

the guy who got shot is 59 years old and from Ontario; defaulted on his mortgages

and recently filed for bankruptcy and changed ownership of some houses he had to avoid paying the government $100k (who has a case against him in the courts)

Quote:

Vancouver police released the name of the man shot to death on Kingsway Thursday as Lin Wah Sam, 59.

Sam was shot to death about 8:15 p,m. Thursday at the Happy Blossom restaurant at 2052 Kingsway.

And they said he was a resident of the Vancouver, but revealed little else about him or why someone wanted him dead.

Here is the update:

I found some bankruptcy documents indicating that Sam was facing some financial trouble in the months before he was killed.

There was a court order against him in Ontario. And the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation had just filed court papers last month saying that Sam had fraudulently transferred property to someone else to avoid paying a debt of over $100,000.
