Didn't really make the media headlines but a house down the street from my best friend got shot up a few days ago. It's around 128 and 66. Two of their cars had their windows smashed in over the past couple weeks and then finally half a dozen shots were fired into their garage door.

An update to this:
Source: Langley Times - Two arrested for Aldergrove grow-op
Quote:

Two men arrested for the marijuana grow operation connected to last Friday’s murder in Aldergrove made their first appearances in court this week.

Craig Challenger, 27, and Taylor Mears, 32, are both charged with production of a controlled substance in connection to a grow-op in a home in the 900 block of 272 Street.

Both men have been released and are expected again in Surrey Provincial Court on March 26. Challenger doesn’t appear to have any criminal background. Mears however was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2000 in White Rock.

On Friday night, Surrey resident Korey Tyler Kelly, 25, was shot to death while attempting to rob a grow-op that the two men are now charged with cultivating.

They were interviewed as persons of interest in the crime but have not been charged in connection with the murder of Kelly. No arrests have been made in Langley’s first homicide of the year.

Langley RCMP’s drug section went into the Aldergrove grow-op home the day after the murder. They dismantled a grow-op of more than 590 plants, said Langley RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks.

The drug section only focused on the grow-op, so she didn’t know if other evidence was seized from the home.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team believes Kelly, along with two associates, attempted to rip off the grow-op at 272 Street. That’s when Kelly was shot multiple times.

Kelly’s associates managed to get a bleeding and unconscious Kelly into the back seat of their car and drive away, calling 911 in the process, said IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

Police officers en route to the 911 call were flagged down by Kelly’s associates. The victim was taken by ambulance but died on the way to hospital.

Kelly had a history of ripping off grow-ops, including an attempted murder charge involving a violent home invasion, grow rip in Surrey in 2004.

He was sentenced to a year in prison for that crime, but was sentenced to a lesser charge of breaking and entering.

He had been actively committing crime for a decade, facing numerous charges for possessing firearms, after being banned from owning them, as well as possession and production of drugs and breaching his conditions.

The 2 arrested are going to get off on this easily because they weren't apprehended immediately. Plenty of time to call a lawyer and get an alibi ready.

You know what worst than drug dealers? Thieves.
No pity for this scumbag Korey guy who deserved to be shot.

here's a little more to the story

Vancouver Police are investigating a double shooting outside an Italian restaurant in the 1000-block of Alberni, between Thurlow and Burrard.

Two victims were taken to hospital after being shot about midnight.

Here’s what VPD Insp. Bob Stewart told us at the scene about 1 a.m.:

“It was approximately midnight tonight, outside a restaurant in the 1000-block of Alberni. Patrons were leaving a restaurant – it appearts at this point. Gunmen approached, fired a number of rounds. There are two victims. Both were taken to the hospital. We don’t know their condition at this point. It is very, very early in the investigation.”

Asked whether the shooting appeared targeted, he said ”It has the hallmarks of that possibly being the case.”

The victims were taken to hospital and police have not yet been able to talk to them.

Some of the passers-by I spoke to seemed non-chalent about another suspected gang shooting in the downtown core. Several passed by the police tape and cars with lights on without even stopping to ask what happened.

I am sure we’ll learn more later today. I have a couple of photos just taken on my I-Phone, so NOT professional quality.

^^^ nutty

so Kim Bolan released the names of the 2 that were shot

Quote:

Vancouver Police continue to investigate the shooting outside the Italian Kitchen on Alberni about midnight Friday. I have learned the names of the two men shot – Althaaf Ismail, 24, and Sean McCarthy, 20. Neither have records here in B.C. Both are expected to survive.
http://blogs.vancouversun.com/2012/0...-murder-trial/

supposedly, based on the comments, Althaaf Ismail is a "gangster rapper" that's well known in the local rapping community? :crazy2:

also there were 2 stabbing murders over the last few days, a woman was stabbed to death Monday morning @ the Cobalt and the one on Saturday from the supposed grow rip

blee123 03-24-2012 01:54 AM

not really a shooting but according to a friend's twitter: "Police are on scene with a male who has been slashed w/ a machete. BCAS & Fire en route. Multiple suspects at large. 320 Ash St NewWest"

anyone know anything about this?
