Some kids were drinking in a park, crossed the street, almost got hit by a car. Then buddy decides to kick the car and owner gets out and stabs him and his friend.

Not saying he deserved to die, but they basically fucked around with the wrong guy and paid a steep price. Just like that Russian kid who slashed the guys tires and got shot, right in the same area too.

Somebody got whacked last night. Given the poor quality of reporting/information in these articles. It seems the media also doesn't give a fuck about shootings anymore.

Quote:
COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – A man has been shot dead on a quiet residential street in Coquitlam.

He was shot on Marathon Court, which is near Brunette and Schoolhouse. The victim, who was in his thirties, was shot in his car and tried to drive away after he was shot; he later died in hospital.

Police tape was up around a large section of the neighbourhood this morning.

Around the same time as the shooting, police were also called to the same area about a vehicle fire; they believe that incident is linked to the shooting, though they have not yet been able to determine how.

“With the tentative ID that we do have, it would suggest that this was a targeted, gang-related shooting,” says Sergeant Jennifer Pound with IHIT.

Police have been taking pictures of poles that have been knocked down in the area; it’s unclear if the victim hit them as he drove away.
Deadly shooting in Coquitlam believed to be gang-related | News1130

Quote:
METRO VANCOUVER - One man in his 30s is dead and the Integrated Homicide Team has been called in after a targeted shooting Tuesday night in Coquitlam.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound, a spokeswoman for IHIT, confirmed one male died in hospital after an apparent gunshot wound. She said investigators believe the shooting was a targeted, gang related hit.

Coquitlam RCMP responded to a 911 call about a car fire at around 11 p.m. on Thomas Avenue. They received another call about a car crash a short distance away in the area of Brunette Avenue and Laurentian. When they arrived at Brunette Avenue, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.

The victim was taken to Royal Columbia Hospital in New Westminster but later died from his injuries.

Pound said the man was known to police and they believe both incidents are related.

Shooting happens all the time. It just doesn't make news anymore unless someone dies much like a car accident

Two doormen injured in shooting at Maple Ridge pub
By Sarah Taguiam, The Province September 29, 2013 1:11 PM

Two doormen were shot after a gunman opened fire at a popular Maple Ridge pub early Sunday, according to its owner.

Two men were escorted separately outside of the pub just before 2 a.m. after an altercation at the Haney Public House at 22222 Lougheed Highway, said owner Yvan Charette.

Five minutes after, one man came back as a crowd of people were leaving the bar. Wearing a new hoodie, he started shooting at the crowd from outside the pub.

He hit two of the pub’s doormen.

“It’s just horrible, both of them have been with me for years and have been working closely with the family business,” Charette said.

The doormen were sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries to their lower extremities.

Charette said the RCMP knows the man’s identity and that his friends are bar regulars.

“We have enough witnesses at the bar’s front,” said Charette, who was celebrating his birthday at the bar when the shooting happened. “We work hard to ensure that people are safe and can have fun without being intimidated.”

Police have yet to confirm if the suspect is in custody.

The Haney Public House will resume business at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police continue to investigate the incident.

More to come.

Mobtown always up to no good and if it was random I'm sure the cops would have released more details about the suspect car seeing how there would be a possible threat to the general public.

How is that being a bigot? I am saying the area the sikh temple is in is generally a bad neighborhood. Maybe you should set an example and not get so easily offended and start attacking people.

Hey! Here's an assessment I made based on absolutely no facts that makes a causality assumption that assumes that the cause of the supposedly bad neighborhood is the temple.

Are we taking into account all the temples? There are 2..technically 3 in Abbotsford and one is actually in a high end neighborhood.

I wouldn't say that Marine Drive is a wonderful neighborhood, but the average SFH there is closing in on a million dollars. Can't all be bad.

I can only think of the one in Surrey that's kind of in the industrial area, but I don't really know a lot about Surrey. I can tell you that Surrey faces a host of issues in terms of crime rates based on a combination of size, population, location and decentralization, so it would be difficult to pinpoint the temple as the sole reason for any supposed increase in crime...sorry, "trouble" rates in the area.

So enlighten us...what the fuck are you trying to say?

It's mobtown brah. I grew up in that area, IS was formed in that area, well Sunset to be exact. A lot of the OG's were from that area but the thing is it's not really a bad area. A lot of the guys I knew who got involved in the drug game came from one parent homes, no fathers so they got themselves involved in bad shit. A few bad apples shouldn't a paint a entire section of Vancouver as "bad". However, the areas changed quite a bit compared to 15 years ago, it's not what it use to be and the shooting had nothing to do with south Van.

Update for the shooting:

Quote:
Police continue to investigate the shooting along S.E. Marine Drive that sent one man to hospital yesterday afternoon with gunshot wounds.

The 32 year old man is in stable condition and expected to recover from his injuries.

While the investigation is on-going and still in its early stages, the shooting appears to be targeted. The victim is known to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section at (604) 717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

I'm not going to get into this too much to avoid getting unnecessarily irritated over internet comments...

But....what you said translates EXACTLY to this:

If Sikh temple....then trouble.

If you don't see what's wrong with that then I don't know what to tell you...

You've attributed trouble to all Sikh temples....If that's too general, then you've attributed trouble to all Sikh temples in the lower mainland...

If you understood the pillars of my religion you would realize that conflict, hatred and community trouble is what we strive to work against. A religion that preaches accepting and respecting all other cultures and religions, a religion that has established temples with open kitchens for everyone to be able to dine in at any time, no matter what their race, beliefs or creed. Having someone make the notion that Sikh temples are affiliated with trouble would bother any person of that religion. But you're right, I've overreacted and have tainted my religious community with my tantrum.

Set an example by not reacting to someone making comments as ignorant as that? No, I'll set an example by educating you and helping you realize that either you've written something that you didn't mean, or that your reality is misconstrued and I invite you to attend some functions at the Sikh temples that I have visited and see what kind of trouble you see...

I live in south van and like others have said, it's not particularly bad, but there's the reputation that it has. I've been to the Sikh temple on marine and im not even brown. But they're hospitality was still great nevertheless.

Shooting at Steve Nash in Richmond followed by the guy getting shot on SW marine drive and now this shooting on Victoria, if I was betting man I would say the shootings are most likely linked.
