The suspect is still loose. Be safe out there, everyone.

Hope your uncle and his family recover from the minor injuries as soon as possible. It may not sound like something serious, but the aftermath effect can be a pain in the butt.

Man arrested in connection with Lower Mainland crime spree | News1130

Quote:

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – A six-hour crime spree and manhunt stretched across three cities last night, ending with an arrest in Surrey.

It began in Richmond with a home invasion at about 6 p.m.; one person was stabbed and their car was stolen in just the first incident in a series of reckless and violent robberies.

About an hour later, police say the same man attacked and robbed someone who was taking out money at an ATM at the TD Bank at Kingsway and Victoria in Vancouver. The victim was treated by paramedics.

Moments later, the stolen car from Richmond was involved in a head-on crash, not far from the bank. Police say the man then tried to car-jack another vehicle that had stopped to help with the crash.

A family of four was in that car; the parents were slashed as the man hacked at them through an open window, while their seven and 10-year-old kids were in the backseat. They managed to drive away; the man and woman were treated in hospital.

The suspect then car-jacked another vehicle at a nearby gas station and drove off; he was eventually arrested around 11 p.m. in Surrey.

“These were violent crimes; these were violent offences,” says VPD Sergeant Randy Fincham. “So, we’re talking about a very short time period with a number of fairly significant violent incidents over three jurisdictions, which is significant.”

A 30-year-old man from Delta remains in custody in Vancouver; charges are pending.

Fincham notes more details still need to be worked out. “When he was arrested in Surrey, he was returned to Vancouver. We will hold him in one facility in relation to the offences and then we’ll determine which court jurisdiction is going to run with the case.”

“We do feel he is a danger to the public at this point,” he adds.

quick story about it
Quote:

Burnaby RCMP is looking for a suspect after a man was shot at a restaurant across from Metrotown this afternoon.

The shooting at the Cactus Club in the 4600-block of Kingsway happened just before 2 p.m.

The victim was hit more than once, according to witnesses, but appeared conscious when taken away by ambulance.

The injuries are not considered life threatening.

The area has been condoned off as forensic investigators search for evidence.

If I learn more, I’ll post it.

If anyone knows anything, please call me at 604-219-5740. A colleague is headed to the scene as I am finishing a story on another topic.

A shooting...NOT IN SURREY!?!?:suspicious:

Spoiler!

Ballsy shit to shoot someone in a restaurant. Especially in that area, cameras are everywhere. I was actually driving by just after 2pm and wondered what was going on, but turned down a street earlier than normal and bypassed the whole mess...

You cant legally own/purchase one unless you're law enforcement

Not true.
As a legal PAL holder you're allowed to own a ballistics vest. They're expensive though, around $1500 will get you some mild plates good for a 9mm at further then 15 meters. For a guy using a .45 cal at point blank, you'll need a serious vest, and strong ribs.

Hondaracer 01-08-2014 07:39 AM

When I worked in the clubs a lot of bouncers wore vests, whether they were just stab proof or actually bullet proof I'm not sure

I know one guy just went off to me how he had the best vest money can buy bla bla bla it can stop a .45 at point blank or a 7.62, told him great I've got both want to see how well it works? Lol
