As a legal PAL holder you're allowed to own a ballistics vest. They're expensive though, around $1500 will get you some mild plates good for a 9mm at further then 15 meters. For a guy using a .45 cal at point blank, you'll need a serious vest, and strong ribs.

Thats pretty interesting. I stand corrected. Hopefully thumper has his PAL then.

stop a 7.62? lol, what is he wearing? strapping some ultra fat old growth tree trunks on his chest and back? LOL.

i highly doubt he has a vest that can stop a 7.62 FMJ.

level III armor vs a 7.62 AK round... not even a NATO round. the nato round would fucking rip through that even easier than the AK round.

you would need level 4 armor and that shit is bulky as fuck, and only provides protection against 1 shot, and the bullets cant be loaded hot or AP, or it'll just cut through it like butter.

About that shooting last night in surrey

Quote:

It has been a busy 12 hours for police across Metro Vancouver, with two targeted shootings.

The latest incident occurred in Surrey, where a man was shot inside a convenience store.

It happened around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night at the Mac’s Store near 152 Street and 100 Avenue in Guildford.

Mounties say two men arrived in the same vehicle before having some sort of confrontation inside the store. One man was shot and the other fled on foot. The victim was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital in stable condition, and police towed the vehicle away from the scene.

The victim underwent surgery last night and is expected to be okay. The man is cooperating with investigators and police hope to make arrest soon.

I don't think too many gangsters are accurate enough to get a headshot, so that probably isn't a huge concern

I know who Surrey needs:

Crack heroin being the worse offender, Surrey and the rest of the lower mainland need a "stop the poppy" marathon to send a message about the drug industry we support in Afghanistan.

I don't think it's always crack or heroin as much, alot of users have chosen meth as the drug of choice now a days. So now do we start a "breaking bad" marathon to send a message to users that we don't support senseless killings in Surrey

98% of people could not hit a dinner plate at 20 feet with a 9mm let alone someone who's probably rarely if ever shot the gun they carry around

originalhypa 01-09-2014 08:08 AM

That would be a crazy vest to stop a 7.62x39. Those rounds usually push close to 2500fps, plus they're usually a NATO approved fmj. That's like a tiny little knife coming at you at close to 1500mph.

A .45 would just hurt. That's a heavy load, and even when only pushing 1300 fps, it's a lot of mass coming at you. Regardless I'd hate to be in the way of any bullet.

Vancouver Police investigating shooting, stabbing
Two men suffered serious injuries

Simon Druker January 13, 2014 9:25 pm

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Two men have been taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a shooting and stabbing in downtown Vancouver.

Police were called to the Park Hotel Apartments at West Pender and Richards Street around 8:15 p.m. Monday.

One man was stabbed while the other was found suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police and witnesses.

“I saw a cop with a shot gun. Eventually one guy rolled out onto his side, strapped up with a blanket. And then maybe 10 minutes later, another guy, he had blood rolling down his face,” says Rob, who works a few doors down from the Park Hotel Apartments.

Police say it’s still too early to say what happened, but it appears the two men had been arguing.

Rob says the building has a reputation.

“It’s a dirty place. You always have trouble there. A lot of the people that stay at the hotel next door get harrased by them.”

Jeremy lives nearby and also says the building is well-known to people in the area.

“There’s a lot of drugs going in and out of here. If you want a stolen bicycle, there’s a few people who can help you out in there as well. I can tell you that for sure. It doesn’t have the best reputation, lets put it that way.”

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - Homicide investigators are calling it a murder.

RCMP were called to a home on Steveston Highway between No. 3 and 4 Roads at around 4 p.m.

They found a man outside and pronounced him dead at the scene.

“BC Ambulance also attended. They tended to a male outside a residence who succumbed to his injuries. Injuries suggest that this was a result of foul play. This incident is being investigated as a homicide,” says Sgt. Adam MacIntosh with IHIT.

MacIntosh says it’s too soon to say how the man was killed. “We’re in the very early stages, I don’t know a lot of information. It is my understanding that it is a male. I don’t know the race or age of this individual, I don’t know this person’s identity. We’re trying to determine exactly what happened resulting in this person’s death.

IHIT isn’t saying if the person has any connection to the home where they were found.

The victim was a fob. Pretty sure it was drug related.
