I forget where I read the statistic but the average income of a full-time established 'gangster' is $60k (tax free, so $85-$90k before 'tax' if it was a legit job?)

but ... making less than 6 figures, and the highly likely chance of death before 30?
No thanks.

Not too many so called "gangsters" are living the Tony Montana lifestyle. I know guys who have been hustling for 20 years and they all work crappy part time jobs to support themselves and they can't get a decent full time job because they have no education or training of any sort. Selling drugs and been a gangster was cool might have been cool when you were 20 years old but when you're 35 and living at home, well yah it's not really cool anymore.

33yr old guy was killed in front of his house on Gladstone st.

Vancouver Police investigate 7th murder of 2014 | Vancouver Sun
Quote:
A 33-year-old man was gunned down in a targeted attack about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at a house on Gladstone near East 29th in Vancouver.

Vancouver Police Const. Brian Montague said major crime investigators remain on the scene Sunday.

He said in a news release that VPD received several 9-1-1 calls after residents in the East Vancouver neighbourhood reported hearing shots.

“When officers arrived, they found a 33 year old man at the entrance of the home suffering from gunshot injuries. Paramedics arrived and declared the man dead at the scene,” he said.

The name of the dead man is not yet being released.

“Although early in the investigation, information obtained by police would indicate that the attack was not random,” Montague said.

Anyone with information is asked to call VPD at (604) 717-2500.

A woman has been shot multiple times in the back at a Chevron gas station on East Hastings Street and Vernon Drive, near Clark Street.

UPDATE: The female victim in the shooting has been confirmed as Mia Deakin, daughter of Real Housewife of Vancouver’s Jody Claman, according to CKNW. She was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.
Mia Deakin, daughter of Real Housewives of Vancouver star, shot in East Vancouver
Quote:
Vancouver Police are investigating a drive-by shooting at a gas station on East Hastings that sent a woman to hospital.

Const. Brian Montague said shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday, police received several 9-1-1 calls about shots being fired from a SUV at the Chevron gas station.

“Officers and paramedics arrived to find a woman with gunshot wounds and a man with minor injuries. The woman has been taken to hospital, but is believed to be in stable condition. The man was treated at the scene by ambulance,” he said in a news release.

“No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Patrol Officers, Detectives and members of the Forensic Identification Unit are at the scene speaking with multiple witnesses, gathering evidence and canvasing for any video that may assist in determining who is responsible.”

He said that while it’s still early in the investigation and the motive for the shooting is not known, “police believe the attack to be targeted.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact VPD at 604-717-2541.

This comes less than 24 hours after a man was fatally shot at a house on Gladstone Saturday night.

Meanwhile, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was also called in to investigate a suspicious death in Agassiz.

Sgt. Bari Emam said a young man was injured early Saturday morning under suspicious circumstances. He died later in hospital.

a“I can confirm that IHIT has taken conduct of this investigation. Details such as the victim’s age or identity will not be released at this time. There is no evidence to suggest that this homicide was connected to gang activity nor was it a random act,” he said.

“I can also confirm that we have one adult man in custody in relation to this homicide. The victim and the person in custody are known to each other. We are in the early stages of this investigation and I cannot reveal any further information at this time. ”

Three people hurt after gunfire in Yaletown and near Science World | News1130

Another girl shot... anyone see the article on the front of the Metro paper this morning warning girls to stay away from gangsters? seems fitting

Weird that in the photos it clearly shows that a guy was shot at the starbucks, but the news outlets say it was a girl

"The VPD says a woman was shot outside the Starbucks on Davie Street near Marinaside Crescent. She is in serious condition. The suspect was followed to the Science World area, where gunfire was exchanged. Both the man and the officer were hurt. The suspect now is in custody."

some of the girls are gangsters and instigate havoc so saying "girls should stay away" is a bit disingenuous to the facts (for example surrey six girl who was involved with the murders)

but wow im amazed how this spiraled into chaos
a lot of buildings are on lock down now

Owner of Reckless Cycles, Paul Dragan is the victim

just reported on global http://globalnews.ca/news/1385659/sh...science-world/

Quote:
Global News reporter John Daly says the owner of Reckless Cycles, Paul Dragan, was injured in the shooting, but this has not yet been confirmed by police. The bike shop is directly across from the Starbucks. There are unconfirmed reports it was an ex-employee who fired the shots at Dragan.
