Seat Sales

Is the date seat sales happen random? I'm looking to book a ticket for mid July to Japan (JAL) and I'm just wondering when I should start keeping an eye out. I asked a travel agent and he didn't seem to know the answer.

you probably went to the wrong travel agent...as you know summer is pretty expensive..
i went to manila via narita jal for 1050 including taxes...yours should be less than that then...
btw...i got a free upgrade...only business and thats coz first class was all booked up...

They are random to you, but they are based on the airlines perceived demand for a particular flight in order to maximize revenue/profit.

Basically, prices change all the time. If you want to get the lowest price possible on a specific date, check every day. If you're lazy, just buy the ticket and never check the prices again.

Right now it is $650 including taxes. so call an agency. I called the japan airline customer service and they are offering $1050. so yeah...make sure to call an agency this time because JAL has huge sale.

JesseBlue 03-21-2009 09:34 PM

yes huge sale...but as far as i know, it starts april 1...don't know if its april fools or not though...

Sorry I'm not sure if I mis-understood...but $650 including taxes from Vancouver to Japan? Which travel agent was that? And when is the travelling period?

Thanks. =)

Do a search on Air Canada and JAL

Fuel surcharges dropped ~$180. I just found a whole bunch of flights flying from Vancouver to Tokyo for ~$600-$640 through Air Canada.

yin87 04-01-2009 02:29 PM

Which months did you do the search for?

Because for Air Canada, the cheapest I found was around $900 round-trip departing from end of April...

AppleSugary 04-02-2009 12:14 AM

Just to clarify. Japan Airlines seat sale starts on April 1
The promotion is only good for three months: April, May and June
So if you are planning to travel to Asia, you might want to book it right now. internet will not give you the price but your agency will. give them a call right now.
