"easiest" road to the playoffs/finals this year is definitely the West conference..
I beg to differ. I believe the Western conference is actually tougher than the East. I'm basing this with depth of teams and overall number of possible contenders. This is all based on expectation and current rosters.
In the East we have 3 elite teams (Celtics [if they can keep up with the shortened but heavy season AND Jeff Green is unhealthy], Heat [current faves], and Bulls [monster defense, very deep roster and D Rose!]) and then a sudden drop off. Only other possible contender is the Knicks (with their strong front court and I believe Baron Davis will shine in MSG).
I am not counting in the Magic since I think Dwight Howard has almost given up and will be traded. Hawks has a decent core with Joe Johnson, Horford and Smith but no bench and I hate their PGs. They signed T-Mac for fuck's sake!
In the West, there are the following teams who has proven they have veteran players and have "been there": Lakers (if Kobe stays healthy and everyone else plays their role), Mavericks (the team is slightly worse than last season imo, but they have won it all already), and Spurs (61 wins last season with their 3 core guys in Duncan, Parker and Manu back).
Proven contender = Thunder (young, strong and starred with my guess for MVP this season, Durant)
While these teams are possible contenders:
Clippers (with depth in PGs Paul, Williams and Bledsoe, while Billups, Butler and showtime Griffin should provide stability),
Grizzlies (who went to the second round last year and has Rudy Gay back and Randolph, Marc Gasol, OJ Mayo, Conley and that rookie Vasquez - they are a VERY strong overall team and I guess will end up in the West final),
and even the Trailblazers (Aldridge, Camby, Wallace, Felton, hopefully healthy Oden and Matthews - surprising team which will play their butt off if need-be)
To sum it up top tier teams in the West and East are as follows:
West: LAL, DAL, SAS, OKC, LAC, MEM and POR (debatable)
East: MIA, CHI, BOS, NYK and ATL (debatable)
IMO, West has deeper teams and more importantly, more teams with talent and role players. It will be a tougher ride to come out of the West. Thus giving the Eastern champ (probably CHI or MIA) a more worn out West champ to face. My prediction is OKC losing to MIA in the final 4-2.

Reason: ALL BASED ON MY EXPECTATION/PREDICTION
btw, went to ball at Richmond Oval and fck that place is turnin to shit, floors are slippery obviously aint been swept in weeks so much dust I was fckin moonwalkin, and the lights on the ceiling, almost half of them are all dead burnt out, noticeably hard to see the hoop and court.... NOT going back there again until they get their shit together

yea Miami is simply killing it with their new run n gun Ducks offense.... but it seems the same problem that plagued them last year is back, they go up huge and relax in the 4th let the other team get back into it, the whole team goes LeBron mode
honestly brahs, all these analysts can analyse this till they pass out, it's as simple as the Heat being too good for their own good, they fckin slaughter teams and literally get bored towards the end of the game and stop playing
ya i been diggin Cole since his preseason games, I never liked Chalmers so I'm thinking Cole keeps this up and it looks like he will, he's gonna get more playing time than Chalmers.... he is noticeably better than Chalmers in everything except knockin down treys... all Chalmers does is catch and shoot 3's really

Cole is gonna eventually start for the Heat come playoff time. Cole World or Chuck Norris Cole are two of the nicknames Heat fans are already coming up with lol.
Oh hey look whos gonna dig themselves a 0-3 hole. Champions my ass. Thunder is playing at home too and theyre gonna barbeque Mark Cuban. Cant wait!!!
Miami. they just come in and rape everybody with that Ducks spread for 3 quarters. And then Bron and Wade just got bored.
I'd like to see Clippers tomorrow--can't believe I just said that. I think Pop gonna come out on top, more experienced and cohesive. I predict Thunder - Spurs West finals. Unless that pig Jim Buss do something about Dwight Howard and Stern wouldnt veto that too. Fucking pigs.
Clippers got demolished by Pop, just as I thought. Highlight reel dunks are overrated. It's mind-boggling how underrated the Spurs are at times. It's easy to forget Pop--a Phil Jackson caliber coach--is coaching that team.
