looks like T-wolves signed Kirilenko's countryman and teammate Alexey Shved. The move is probably so AK47 will join them. I don't know anything about the guy and he may very well be a scrub but here are his stats; 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 23 Russian League games.

Shved is capable of playing either guard position. His exact role in the rotation is yet to be determined, but Rick Adelman played a major role in his recruitment. It's hard to imagine Adelman pressing for Shved's addition if he wasn't planning on integrating him into next season's plans.

not sure if you guys seen this story about jerry west and former grizzlies owner michael heisley when west was still the GM in memphis. it's about the erroneous six-year, $34 million deal that Brian Cardinal received in July 2004 after his "breakout" season of 9.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 21 minutes. Brian Cardinal: The man, the myth, the contract | Goethe's sports blog
'An exceptionally well-connected league insider once told me the story of how Brian Cardinal got his mid-level. Seems Memphis owner Michael Heisley, frustrated by general manager Jerry West’s lack of activity, walked into West’s office one day and asked why he hadn’t signed anyone yet. So an exasperated West picked up his phone, called Cardinal’s agent and offered the mid-level on the spot. Then he turned to Heisley and said something along the lines of "There, you happy now?"'

The Timberwolves and Andrei Kirilenko are reportedly finalizing a two-year, $20 million contract, with the second year a player option.

no, the Kobe number thing isn't a coincidence, at first when he switched to 24, people suggested that he was trying to say he's "better" than jordan, but he was simply trying to say that he was next in line after Jordan.
MJ has already commented on the issue when asked who would he feel most comfortable passing the torch too today, and his answer Kobe Bryant, that's all there is too it....
Potato Head was at hoop it up over the weekend by the way, lookin real Yaletown yuppie'ish too, fit right in with the rest of the DT crowd with that get up.....
dont know if the vid is gonna show up, snapped a quick pic though..

what's the chance of someone beating USA? slim to none?
spain & argentina have a decent lineup but spain got steamrolled in that first game against them

I think Spain has the best chance... Don't count out the Gasol brothers (marc didn't play during that exhibition game) fernandez, ibaka, calderon,
Argentina can pull it off too but once Ginobili gets shut down.. it's pretty much over

I was up last night till 3am watchin China vs Russia, damn they got demolished and AK47 and Shved are playing really well, Minnesota has done well with these two pickups.
I wanted to let you guys know about a men's league that's starting up in August 20th team registration is only $500 includes team shirts. It's gonna be at Marpole right on Oak there and games will be played Sundays. It's not gonna be super competitive like some of the other men's leagues pretty laid back and casual, wanted to let you guys know if you wanna get a team together and run, we're expecting around 10 teams to join.
Any of you currently playing in the Douglas summer league btw ? their games are monday and wednesday nights

^ lol, he can't help it man, dude was born with that face...
on the other hand, 83 point whuppin USA laid on Nigeria, I think I'm shelving my USA olympic gear for a while, I lost a bit of respect for all of them coaches too, where the fuck is the sportsmanship....
I hear coach K saying it would have been MORE disrespectful if they took it easy and defended the win....
i dont know i honestly feel embarrased for them and let down as a fan, I know some of you will disagree thats aight,, but that's the first emotion that came to my mind when I read it, I was disappointed as a fan.
im downloading the game right now, and half of me doesn't even wanna watch it
