Your thoughts on the Lakers' hiring of D'Antoni? I think this decision says much about owner Jerry Buss in terms of his willingness to give more control to the coach.

Buss is driving the Lakers' bus, no doubt about it. If Jackson was hired to be the coach, Phil may have asked for more authority over the team, part ownership of the team, who knows. I doubt that Buss is willing to give up more to hire Jackson.

D'Antoni better know how to manage the stars on this team. Based on this article, it sounds like he's not very confrontational. Yeah, Mike knows Kobe back in the day when Mamba played basketball in Italy.

In a dizzying decision, Lakers turn to D'Antoni to right ship | NBA.com

However, what if things going really sour for the Lakers? How will Bryant react? How will D'Antoni deal with with the big egos of players especially if the season doesn't turn out the way the Lakers hope it to be?

Everybody knows that D'Antoni's weakness is defense. Can Nate McMillan, supposedly his choice as defensive assistant coach, improve the D for the Lakers?

I don't know why you guys are talking about 'nice guy' Z-bo now as if it's something new....He's changed his image in this league a few years ago....

G-spec 11-12-2012 02:15 PM

Jerry's son Jim Buss has been running the Lakers for a while now. Jerry's health is bad...
Jim is the jackass who wanted to leave his own imprint on the Lakers and fcked a lot of shit up, but luckily GM Kupchak salvaged the ship.
Yea I know Z-Bo stopped pointing guns at people years ago, but were talking about his own court image. He got really rowdy 2 seasons ago when the Grizz made a deep playoff run and beat the Spurs, he was killin it so proclaimed himself the best PF in the game. He rode that rowdy train into the following season where they met the Clippers in the playoffs but due to injury he didn't play well yet still was instigating constantly.
From what I see this season, he's being the total opposite of instigator, like Wasabi saif that Clipper game he caught Blake off guard which was really funny. nice guy Zbo lol, good for him though

Emerging star with Harden in Houston, his Basketbal IQ is high and runs the floor smooth.

Turnover is his problem.

I thought Harden took the last 3pt shot against Miami last night? dafauq

apparently kobe wanted the princeton offense so mike brown isn't entirely to blame. heard about it on a recent podcast and found this link. Kobe Bryant goes back to school: Lakers switching to Princeton offense - Yahoo! Sports Canada

"It's a great offense," Bryant told Yahoo! Sports. "It's exactly what we need. It takes us back to being able to play by making reads and reacting to defenses. It takes a great deal of communication, but that's where we're at our best: Reading and reacting as opposed to just coming down and calling sets. Calling sets make you vulnerable.

"There's so many threats, so many options, it's very tough to defend. Against the type of defenses that teams play nowadays, they load up on one side and are constantly coming with help from the weak side. The Princeton offense makes it very, very tough to lock in on one particular player.

"From my experience, those types of principles – ball movement, changing sides on the floor, everybody being involved – those are championship principles. That's championship DNA."

The Score and TSN highlights were different last night. Wade missed 2 FT but Bosh got the offensive rebound and made 2FT. Harden's shot was at 2 seconds left.

the stats that jump out at me are 2.6 TO a game and 2.4 steals a game

Jeremy Lin Stats, Bio and Game Logs | NBA.com

that air ball's the only thing i've seen from him this year though. no NBA on the score 1 except for the odd raptors game :okay:

Stats on nba.com seem pretty average except for steals. I was hoping he would live up to expectation after his Linsanity run last year. Maybe its too early to tell, but I hope he is not "overrated and overpaid" and can push their team to the playoffs with Harden

bballguy 11-13-2012 03:25 PM

lol you're f-ing crazy if you think the Rockets can make the playoffs in the tough western conference...

and the only thing that stands out to me about Lin's numbers are his 37% from the field and 2.6 TO....That said, horrible fg% and high turnover rate is expected from young point guards.

Alpine50 11-13-2012 03:51 PM

Anyone happen to have that picture of D'Antoni in New York that says "it was all good just a week ago"? It's one of those nba meme's. been trying to google it on my phone no luck.

Jimmer ? wtf... drops 17 on the Lakers on somethin like 80% shooting, and tonight almost single handedly is bringing back his team against Portland when they were down almost 20...
I'm sittin here watching him shut down Lillard who started the game hot, but once Jim got in, he shut him down few steals, bunch of assists already to bring the game back to even score.... he's playing really well and under control unlike last year where he looked very lost....
good for him though, kinda felt sorry for him suckin so bad last year, but looks like he worked hard over the summer

lil bro just shared this on fb, cracked me up

Yeah but he's still reading the defence and reacting more than before, where he would just force fade aways

G-spec 11-14-2012 12:07 AM

HEAT @ CLIPPERS tonight!! I hope it's not blacked out, fck...

as for Lakers, yea no princeton offense, but yet Eddie Jordan is still there ?

new coach is comin soon, and keep in mind this dude knows somethin about scoring himself, personally
