Toronto Raptors re-sign star point guard Kyle Lowry
Quote:

Lowry was one of the most coveted players on the market, drawing offers and interest from the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers. His decision to stay with the Raptors is the first time a significant unrestricted free agent has re-signed in Toronto in almost a decade.
Hmm... that throws a kink into the "Big 3" Heat plans :suspicious:

Huh?.....

jonwon 07-03-2014 12:30 AM

the heat were gunning for lowry and gortat

bballguy 07-03-2014 07:20 AM

They were going for them, but I don't think they tried all that hard....they can't offer any free agent much $ at this point....at least not until they figure out what's happening with the big 3, and how much of a pay-cut each is willing to take...

hotjoint 07-03-2014 09:36 AM

Props to Lowry for sticking with the raps

Obsideon 07-03-2014 05:42 PM

The Heat were definitely not trying to match anybody in terms of monetary value. They were pitching the whole "We have a championship team, take a paycut and win a ring" shtick.
Lowry is now the highest paid player on the team, although DeRozan's contract is coming up soon too. Still, it's a very reasonable contract for someone who was the heart and soul of the team last season. Creepy that it was similar to the contract that Jose Calderon got when he was a dino :heckno: Haha

I'm glad they didn't get Bosh back as per rumours. Would have been a disaster, and he would have asked for way more than $12m per, for sure north of $16m.

I know it's always existed but it's never been more obvious. Players trying to 'wine & dine' each other to coax them to play together because none of them can win on their own. Kind of sad.

That's obviously not going to work on dudes that are due for a big payday & have never been paid big before........That's exactly what Gortat and Lowry are....due for their first big contracts...They are going to have a much more aggressive pitch to a guy like Pau Gasol...

I agree.. it's quite different for sure.. but it is what it is.. if I didn't love the game, I don't think I can even watch the nba at all to be honest.... heck, even it is starting to lose its appeal to ME

If it wasn't for fantasy ball, I would probably watch even less

411ken 07-03-2014 09:26 PM

reports says that Carmelo will make his decision after the weekend. I would be surprised if this happens as I can see this prolonging until mid july or so haha :P

If I was a betting man, I see him going to Houston

bballguy 07-03-2014 10:45 PM

I got a gut feeling he's going to LA...Both him and LaLa love being in the spotlight/big market.......Or he'll go back to New York...

Where is Swaggy P gonna be?

Not really racist! 07-04-2014 03:58 PM

Spencer Hawes to the Clippers...
Decent pick-up, but would have preferred L. Deng instead as a solid SF to the starting line-up.

411ken 07-05-2014 09:37 AM

Great pickup for the clips IMO. They needed a backup to Jordan as they had hollins last year lol. I bet paul pierce signs with them

Paul, redick, pierce, griffin, Jordan Then have Crawford, Barnes, hawes leading the 2nd unit.. Id even try and sign Nelson to back up Paul or something. Lots of options out there still for someone willing to sign cheap

Jameer Nelson would be an amazing pick-up! He was on my fantasy squad last season and he was absolutely solid for a vet.

I surely hope they keep J.Craw!

that's a bad move, I mean getting rid of Novak is ok I guess but I fucking hate Vasquez with a passion, he's even worse when you watch him in real life.... slowest and sloppiest guy on the court even slower than the bigs playing, completely and uterrly flat footed.... he's got a good enough handle so the only reason he's even in the NBA is because he's a tall point guard who can look over his defender and make those simple pick and roll pick and pop passes over shorter PG's much easier than most guys, this is the ONLY reason he's in the fckin L.... and dont nobody give me that shit about him hitting 1 or 2 floaters per game bullshit, first he's inches taller than anyone guarding him, and secondly those floaters always come either off screens or some ugly awkward as fuck drives to the hoop

PiuYi 07-05-2014 06:11 PM

lol wtf? i'm the biggest vasquez fan... he's so clutch imo has a reliable 3, runs the 2nd unit offence well, not a big liability on D, and can defend the SG as well so can play in tandem with lowry

but to each his own i guess, i've never seen him live

jonwon 07-05-2014 06:28 PM

he sucks shit on D, sometimes makes dumb decisions, and also thinks hes a heatcheck guy, but... gotta love his heart and passion for the city of TO. also later in the season and into the playoffs he picked up his game, he hit tons of clutch 3's and his floaters were money

411ken 07-05-2014 11:11 PM

Vasquez isn't THAT bad.. he needs to be a starter where his duty is to get his teammates the ball (and score a few) and he could easily avg 10+ assist. I don't think offense is his "game" to begin with.. Heck, he had a pretty good stats IMO back when he was in NO (2011-12 season) and that was playing with the likes of Aminu,Gordon,Kaman,Ariza,Bellineli lol

Some can disagree and that's ok.... there' a lot of nba players that are only in the league because they are damn tall as well lol and still makes millions that's a fact.

bballguy 07-05-2014 11:31 PM

Vasquez is whatever, but the fact of the matters is, we don't need Lowry, Lou Williams, Nando De Colo. AND Vasquez......not necessary...Let Vasquez go, and get get a better SF....

jonwon 07-05-2014 11:51 PM

+1

lou was a good pick up
