Need A Plan

I could use one of the retention plans in the other threads (holy fuck, they're good deals), but I've never been with Rogers or Fido although my family has for the last several years. Don't even have a cell right now, all old school.

Are there discount on new plans for existing customers, perhaps even to the point they're as good as retention ones?

Perhaps they are willing to do this but I'm not sure.

If you have a brother or someone in your direct family having been a customer for a long time, you can get a retentions plan with that. While you are at it, you can try to ask and see if you can add another plan that is the exact same for yourself. You could do this yourself and pretend to set it up for the existing customer and then adding it to another.

I did something similar with my plan. I had changed mine to retentions and then changed my brothers. Then again, we were both existing customers and not new ones so I can't comment on whether or not it is possible to do this. But I am sure that if you are already an existing customer, you can get a better deal. Or atleast thats what I hope Rogers would do for people.

Sounds good, I think I'll see if I can get a retention plan as a new customer.

Lastly, if I get a plan with an existing phone, am I able to choose how long it goes for unlike the general 3 year deals?

Thanks

Well, it would be as a true new customer but it would be a fake new customer hahahaha

And you can negotiate a plan for however long you want. Must of the norm is just 3 years. Besides, the longer they lock you up, the better plan you will most likely get.

Yeah, I did that for my bro. Just opened a new line for a non-fake new customer but at the same time I was getting my old plan and my mum's overhauled with retention plans as well.

Hmm.. might be a good time to lock up with Rogers since their new plans don't look too appealing. If I get a prepaid SIM card, I can just stick it in any GSM phone and it should work right? Or do I need a specific prepaid phone?
