reverse polarity protection?

yesterday, my uncle took his altima to nissan to get a C service, when he came back the battery no longer get recharged. The car will drive when it starts but it won't charge the battery anymore.

Forward to this morning, he connected the jumper cable backwards (reverse polarity) when jump starting the car, it fried the jumper cable ends and he towed the car to nissan dealer. I have a feeling nissan may rip him off this time by saying shit load of things are fried and needs replacement. I would think there should be fuse and relay to protect the circuits from frying this when this kind of things happen. anyone have experience with this kind of things?

if he hooked it up backwards, check all the fuses including the big main ones that are rated at high Amperage.

I don't think you get warranty for human errors, but I would definitely try talking to them about it though

i would think that too, but i think most alternators are rated at what, at least 120 amps?

the main fuse is i think rated at 100A so i think that will blow first.

i only know cuz someone towed a car into advance that would not start, and the owner did the same thing, accidentally collected the jumpers backwards. we traced it down to the main fuse.
