Looking for used bikes, where did you look?

So i'm looking to buy a slightly used Kawasaki EX250.

I hope to spend under 3000, since i'll stilll have to budget gear as well.

Now i've only been looking on Craigslist, but most of the 250s on there are the kx's.

so my question is, where'd you look while trying to find a bike?

Also any other suggestions? i want less than 400cc, but don't' want something small like a cbr125.
Also prefer crotch rockets.

Thanks!

bcsportbikes.

That's where I picked up my first bike. kawi ninja500

2nd bike was from international motorcycle cbr F4i

My latest bike is from Chop Shop Cycle 06 gsxr 600

You don't have many choices for sportbike-ish under 400cc. Unless you look at
grey bikes. Most newer ninja250's, people will still ask above $3500, cause everyone always looks for those bikes when they first start off. Think supply and demand. most of the older ones are usually around $3000 or less and ther isn't much you can do about the KM's or condition. I used to check everyday, so that's your best bet. Cause 1 day you'll stumble across what your looking for and within your budget. Contact me if you want some choices on new gear. I sell them. (not talking about my used set on classifieds)

that's some good information to keep in mind thanks!

i was thinking about a grey imported CBR400, but parts might be a bitch and they're expensive as well. might consider a ninja 500, but i'm cheap and don't want to pay the insurance.

i guess i'll just have to suck it up and pay the extra thousand.

do you have a shop? maybe i'll drop by and take a look at some of the stuff, i've never tried anything before.

word of mouth can work suprisingly well, i got my 250 for 1500 buckaroos Fairing damaged but i've patched that up on my own
the honda CB-1 is another 400cc bike out there, they only made them in north america for 2 or 3 years i believe. but they're a naked bike, not a sport bike (i like the look of em better than my ninja though)

Thanks man! He likes making money, so he makes sure the customer is happy first time around. Bad rep/service and he loses money. And he doesn't like that very much.

BCSportbikes.

Under 400 but over 125 pretty much limits you to Ninja250. If you don't mind ones that have been dumped (ie trashed fairings), there should be quite a few out there. They look like crap with the damage but are often still mechanically sound. Almost everyone that dumps these things does it at low speed (ie below 60km/h), usually the result of lowsides caused by rider inexperience. (it is a n00b bike after all).

Good luck!
