^Even the Nokia wont have great multimedia capabilities
For one, the Bold or new curve has a higher res screen, the bold has 3 stereo speakers as opposed to the single speaker found in the E71
I'd say the only thing the E71 has over the bold is the metal housing

E71 if you like more shortcuts, to me its also more user friendly
Bold if you care about a better screen, better speakers
both have crappy cameras, altho the E71 is less crappy
E71 lets you use MSN app, FB app, Gmail app without a data plan (meaning you can use your home wifi)
for the bold, you must have a data plan to use those apps
I also find that loading apps onto the bold takes more time compared to the E71

E71 is a better all-rounder, and I think the learning curve on that one is a bit steeper.

^ lol, that vid is part 2. I wonder what the first one sounds like hahaha.. Anyways, I asked the sales rep at rogers and they told me that Bold is faster than Curve 8900 but Curve 8900 has higher pixels and has better camera.
Bold = business/work
Curve = multimedia?
I'm not sure about this tho.

I was thinking of getting the 8900 but people are telling me to get the bold.. | The most obvious difference to me is that the Bold has 3G with HSDPA, while the Curve does not (can only use EDGE). Both models have wifi access, so it depends on if you would add a monthly data plan or not.

I'm not sure about this tho. | Higher pixesls where? I think what the rep meant was that stuff looks prettier on the Curve because it's the same resolution screen, but it's physically smaller so the pixels are closer together and everything looks more seamless. Haven't played with a Curve yet, plushy or otherwise. |

Bold = 480x320
Curve = 480x360
Not enough to be noticable though, pics on the bold already look flawless

Sorry to hijack the thread but any one have a javelin 8900? Thoughts and complaints about it would be great, one of my reasons for not getting it is lack of 3G and 4G is coming out sometime next year I believe I don't want to be outdated =(

I've owned the BB Curve 8900 for about a week and a half now. I've updated the OS twice already, and I've noticed that the battery life has definitely improved on the phone. I like how light this phone is compared to the Bold, it has a better grip as well. The lack of 3G isn't that big of a deal for me, as I don't have a data plan at this time, and I'm either at school which has wifi or at home which has wifi as well. One thing for sure with all blackberries is the awesome text messaging. As soon as I laid my hands on this phone, I haven't been able to stop texting friends. It's such a small handy device that allows for web browsing,texting, and other weird things that you might want to do with the phone. The only downside is that with the blackberry, none of the applications, such as facebook, gmail mobile, or msn live messenger can be installed without a data plan. I was really bummed out when I found out about this, so I'm still trying to find apps out there that will act as a replacement. One more thing to add about the phone. The default BB browser is very slow on this phone, thus I installed opera mini, and it has been opening pages very very fast now. Overall, great phone, that is small, light, and compact.
Hope this helps.

You can't use messsenger or facebook without a data plan. It won't work with wifi either.
I went with the 8900 cause I only have the email/IM plan so 3G made no difference for me. I tried out browsing on it with wifi and it's friggin slooooooooooooooow as hell so I opted not to upgrade to the 500mb plan. The only thing I miss is GPS and facebook, but I hear the facebook app for BB blows anyways.
I went with the 8900 over the Bold cause the Bold felt a little too wide. My only negatives are:
- build quality in SOME areas is a bit iffy, the send and end keys are kinda poorly built, screen is close to the housing so when u press on it a bit you get that wavy lcd effect
- it is light but almost feels TOO light. I loved the weight of my iPhone and I wish the 8900 was a bit heavier feeling
- can't turn off the damn camera sound (not specific to 8900)
- sloooow ass browser (not specific to 8900)
overall, the blackberry has kept me much more organized cause i can receive/send emails anywhere now. IF you don't plan to get any type of data, I'd go with the E71 instead though. BBs just feels kinda crippled without data.

When I was deciding between Bold and Javelin, I went with the 8900.
It just feels a lot better when you're holding it compared to the Bold. The width on the thing is just right when you're using one hand - not too wide and not too narrow.. But I guess it might be a little harder compared to the Bold when you're using both hands since it's smaller. The only thing that bothers me about the keyboard is that if you are constantly typing for 20-30 minutes, your fingers start to hurt.. but then again.. that may be a problem with any other phone as well..
It's really a great little phone that keeps you connected with everything and everyone.. I would not recommend any blackberry to anyone if you don't have a data plan. like ienhz said, it's really crippled lol
Oh and another plus for the Javelin is the lock button on the top. It's so much more convenient than the Bold, which only has a standby key up there - the Javelin has both
The Javelin basically looks a lot better than the Bold imo.
The Bold has the older design with the bezel sticking out.. which looks kinda ugly, and the Javelin has the same new sleek design as the Storm.
ontop of that, it also has a 3.2MP AUTOFOCUS camera compared to the crappy 2.0MP on the Bold. So if you're gonna be taking some pictures, this would be the one to choose.
The only thing nice about the Bold is the illuminated trackball. lol
Another thing to think about is the new Javelin that's supposed to be out this year. It's said to be the same but with 3G PLUS an even denser screen res.
