I think they took the term "crumple zone" a bit too literally, or mis-interpret it as "crumble zone".

wow.. that is safe..if i was the commissioner of safety i would approve of it .. i hope the japanese will take this in a prospective manner and include these vast new technological advancements to further the safety of their vehicles!!!!!! lol

It crumples like a 80's Japanese tin can.... which is very good considering it took Japan many decades to get that far. I'd give it another 10-15 years before they're on par or better than Japanese cars.
