CT10 03-05-2009 02:06 AM

are u guys gona be getting a phone in hk?
if so we can all go at once, to see if we can bargain a little if we buy 3 phones at the same time?

urban.boi 03-05-2009 02:39 AM

go to MongKok and Sin Tat Plaza. Whole plaza sells cellphones. and able to work out a deal.

CT10 03-05-2009 03:07 AM

i went to MK already

for Sin tat, i dont trust them at all
i saw a w900i for $1880, and they told me it was 100% brand new.......

the prices at sin tat are sometimes too good to be true there

I go to price.com.hk to check prices.
They usually have fairly accurate prices for new phones.
The only thing is that the members post the prices, so it may be off sometimes. Nonetheless, the site is still useful as they include the name/address/number of the store along with the price

cool.. me and my buddy who lives there is getting a phone too. That would be 4 phones :D

urban.boi 03-05-2009 12:05 PM

some stores in Sin Tat sells refurbish phones, but some are real. It depends on the prices, I never had a problem buying a phone from Sin Tat.

Or I guess just go to Boardway or stores like that and sometimes you can bargin them to give you some accessoires.

I'm in hk and i using an iPhone! so far haven't seen anyone using it woot woot!

thinking outside the box as always ahhahaha

well time to sleep its 11:40pm ... fml

CT10 03-06-2009 07:10 AM

er...i see at least 5+ ppl each day on the MTR using iphones lol

i have yet to see a blackberry though

+Kardboard+ 03-06-2009 09:58 AM

Seriously? Is it like SE land over there? :p

CT10 03-06-2009 04:09 PM

yea haha
SE + nokia land here

!Aznboi128 03-07-2009 05:38 PM

um.. not much iPhones still lol but some berries not much

however i was checking out the phone prices (was in yuan luang) and pricing was similar to pricing in vancouver's cell stores ....

+Kardboard+ 03-07-2009 05:43 PM

So the pricing here for most phones are comparable to the ones in HK? My dad needs a new phone in HK, but I don't know what the prices are and what would be a good deal there. :/

JKam 03-07-2009 06:06 PM

WTF?! the same? maybe i'll just get it in Van...

Simplex123 03-07-2009 07:18 PM

Price are usually the same as the stores in Vancouver.
Sometimes we even have better prices than HK.
If you wana get the lowest price go for the water goods (水貨)

!Aznboi128 03-08-2009 04:19 AM

^ yah exactly in all legit stores (broadway, etc) pricing is like easycell high

water goods (in mong kwok) are like phone more pricing

but i saw 903 for $3200hkd in a cell mall.... iPhone 2G @ $3000hkd not that great imo
but there was a sh-03a for $3980... which isnt bad

CT10 03-08-2009 06:07 AM

one thing i noticed is...

say the prices at phonemore are the same as hk stores

BUT, hk stores (fortress, broadway) carry HONG product
while the phones i brought from phonemore before were water products

and factor in that the canadian dollar has dropped a lot lately, which is why prices in HK seem more expensive than before.

asian_XL 03-08-2009 07:31 AM

you just don't know where to ask, that's why...

there are magazines that tell you where to get stuff for cheap...go check them out.

btw, water products offer 1 yr warranty, I don't mind buying it, never have any problem

You crazy? Everyone and their dog has an iPhone here.

!SG 03-08-2009 09:24 AM

iphone is still expensive in hk...

Simplex123 03-08-2009 01:00 PM

Try yahoo auctions. Tons of people in HK use it.
Some of them are actual stores, but they're mostly users selling 2nd hand stuff.
http://hk.auctions.yahoo.com/hk

Tim Budong 03-08-2009 01:21 PM

ok..let me clarify the difference between water goods and official product

Any phone that is brought and sold over here are water goods. It doesnt matter if they were official goods or water goods.

in HK there are a couple levels of "water goods" as well
lets use the E71 as an example,

there are..carrier based devices(like rogers e71) are the cheapest versions. Basically, branded devices from different countries

then you have Singapore official products sold in HK, these are usually the best buy, but the price of these are generally around 500-800HKD cheaper than the HK Official Goods

The sad thing is, if you were to buy from places like MK sincire center, its usualy the best to bu the latest and greatest devices as with time, the more gutted phones are put out there
