| Exhaust laws
Hey do any of you guys know if 'side exit' exhausts are legal in BC? (mainly lower mainland area, but kelpwna too)
from what i've heard, as long as it exits behind the doors, you're ok... is this correct?

I believe it's ok as long as it exits the vehicle behind the "passenger compartment".
I'd look into reading up that section of the MVA to be certain though.

There is a 80% probability that mine is going to come out of my fender lol. If I run it out the back though I am contemplating running my wastegate dump out the hood.
Berz out.

interesting, under the metro vancouver aircare laws, it says this:
"Inaccessible exhaust opening
If the vehicle is 5,000 kg. GVW or less, the tailpipe must expel the exhaust beyond the perimeter of the vehicle."
i guess that means you could have it sticking out the hood as long as it had a cat and muffler on it?

thats just to pass aircare because they need an easily accessable tailpipe to shove the sniffer into.
have you tried searching the police forums on here? id bet its been covered before.

Call a shop and ask, simplest way to do it

as said by the one like skidmark:
"7.03 MVAR:
(2) No person shall drive or operate a motor vehicle propelled by an internal combustion engine when the muffler with which the vehicle is equipped is cut out or disconnected from the engine.
You can have the cut out there, you just can't operate the engine with the cut out there.
If you are talking about shortening up the exhaust system, as long as the cat and muffler are there, the exhaust exits beyond the vehicle perimeter, does not pass through the passenger compartment and no one can burn themselves on it when they get in and out of the vehicle, you should be all right."

^Shops don't always know the law, and there are always those who will tell you whatever you want to hear, or do whatever illegal mods you ask for, to get your money. Look at how many shops will put illegal tint on your front windows for you.
Better idea is to ask here: http://www.revscene.net/forums/police-forum-f143.html
