I just acquired my first "real" Chev a 81' 2 door Malibu with a 450hp 350. I don't know the specs on the motor its full of Buck Kinney black magic and she's squirrely.
I do know it has a 3500 stall TC with a turbo 350 trans, GN rear end 411 gears with locker and full 3" mandrel bent dual exhaust with long tube headers and full MSD ignition.

BrRsn 04-05-2011 09:59 PM

01 grand cherokee with y-pipe back exhaust with DMH cutout and flowmaster 50 series, 206 grind cams, custom 94 octane tune, 2008+ style intake manifold retrofit w/ egr delete, ported and polished 75mm throttlebody, cold air intake and a bunch of other stuff. Still not fast enough. 0-60 in ~6.1 seconds ... stock camry kicks my ass and gets twice the MPG, ah well that's life lol.

"stock camry kicks my ass and gets twice the MPG, ah well that's life lol. "

Theres so much more to it then that. The 01 grand is that the 4.7?

Yep the 4.7. Well not exactly kicks my ass I sound a hell of a lot nicer haha.

EDIT: Looked it up, I'm 0.1 seconds faster to 60, woot. Sometimes I wonder what my car would be like if I got a quick car to begin with.

I really wanted ported and polished heads but $2000 is a big amount to commit when I barely work anymore. The biggest downfall of my truck is that the subframe doesn't allow for any type of header to be installed except for the OEM one, which flows like ass. Apparently making a notch in the subframe would allow me to run some badass headers but that might be a bit sketch if I ever get into an accident

Ever consider swapping to a 98' 5.9 Grand then you'll be havin some fun. I got a 98 dakota R/T (same motor) with a slew of bolt ons and damn she's fast. 13.02 in the quarter.

skylinergtr 04-06-2011 05:17 PM

2002 ford explorer eddie bauer V8 - love this truck!

used to have a 91 Jeep Cherokee sport (XJ) - also another loved vehicle.

I wanted to initially have the 5.9's got a problem with a weak tranny and right now I just need something that's reliable and decently quick. I've never ran the 1/4 but I'm guessing if I did I'd be in the high 14's. Ontop of that they're an older body style that I didn't really like, but if I saw a dakota r/t for the right price I'd offer a trade if the buyer was willing.

Your dakota came with the same engine I've got as well but they never put the 5.9 in the WJ (99-04 grand cherokee) if they did I would have one right now :(

What did you do with your transfer case? (I'm guessing the Dakota has a transfer case, or is it RWD?)

I've toyed with the idea of dropping the transfer case all together and just getting a custom driveshaft that goes from the tranny straight to the rear diff.

Phil@rise 04-07-2011 10:14 AM

My Dakota is just rwd and yeah they did come with the 4.7 as well. You can't just drop the transfer case and put in a DS in your jeep you'd need the 2wd tailshaft section for the tranny.

Hi everybody. I just wanted to update you all on my vehicles. I now own a 1987 Buick GNX, 1993 GMC Typhoon ( it is on the road now ), 2005 Cadillac CTS-V, and a 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Z34 ( i just bought it last Saturday ). I would like to thank Orgasm_Donor for vouching for me. I would also like to thank him for all the great work he has done for me in the past in regards to installing and uninstalling all my stereo equipment and alarms in my various vehicles ( my Z34 is at his shop right now ). He is correct when he says that I am about as GM as you can get. For the record, here is a list of all the cars I have owned in the past or presently own : 1973 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS350 ( but I had a 427 in it ), 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Z34, 1987 Buick Grand National, 1987 Buick GNX, 1988 Buick LeSabre T-Type ( two different ones ), 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP ( two different ones ), three different GMC Cube Vans ( 1990, 1998, 2005 ), 1993 GMC Typhoon ( three different ones ), 1997 Cadillac Seville STS, 1999 Cadillac Seville STS, and a 2005 Cadillac CTS-V. I brought my V out to one of the RevScene meets last summer and I parked with all the Sounds Good Auto guys. I was there for several hours but not too many people came by to look at my car. It was an import show after all, right? Anyways, I am really busy with my nursing course but I hope to make it out to another event or two this year ( if homework doesn't kill me first ). See you out there!

Hi all. It's time for an update. I sold the CTS-V and Lumina Z34. My present stable includes one 1987 Buick GNX, three 1993 GMC Typhoons (one black, one white, one red), one 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible, one 1998 Chevrolet Blazer LT, and my latest acquisition, a 2006 Cadillac STS-V (just bought it today)!

Nice. Random Q, what oil are you running in the 4.7? They're a bit prone to sludge from what I've experienced.
