tow truck companies can't tow cars right. I have witnessed idiot towing away a 350z from a no park zone in front of an apartment. the tow guy was so rushed that he put a dozen scratch marks on the Z, then didn't even release parking brakes nor ebrakes. dumbass owner + tow guy

This coming from a guy who bought a 27k motor.

fob driver!

JSALES 03-17-2009 11:20 PM

is that the same driver with the GTR who filled up diesel in his car?

TRDood 03-17-2009 11:28 PM

can't the cops or insurance company use this youtube vid to prove that they are racing and driving like a dumbass?

hk20000 03-17-2009 11:32 PM

^ hard to tell where that is though.

For the local GTR: maybe his tranny is broken, so he left it there, and try to scam the tow truck company for 20K replacement tranny.

bet $500 for $20K tranny, I'd hit it.

Just because someone is parked illegally doesn't mean their car is open season to damage from carelessness.

Tow truck drivers are usually on the low side of the intelligence spectrum... Right along with drywallers and painters...

His job is to tow the vehicle. Any way you look at it that vehicle is gonna get towed. Do you expect the tow truck driver to treat the car like a baby with the utmost care and concern.. no. Thats not being realistic. He's not intentionally causing damage to the vehicle but its his ignorance of the car that may have caused the damage indirectly.

Do you actually think the tow truck driver knows all the ins and outs of a GTR? I doubt it. Again he's there to do a job. The fact we care about this car is merely because its a GTR. If it were a pinto nobody would give a flying hoot. Seems like you have a vendetta against tow truck drivers. Just maybe this lesson might dissuade the owner from parking illegally. The rules are set in place for a reason, are they not?

tough 03-18-2009 01:44 AM

that hurts to see

Drift_Monkey 03-18-2009 02:53 AM

the way i see it... the tow trucker needs to do some research.

even doctors will do research before they start a surgery on someones heart.

tow truckers FTL

Carl Johnson 03-18-2009 04:16 AM

just because the guy shouldn't have park there does not justify the fact that the tow truck driver did damages to someone's vehicle and needs to be held responsible for it

my friend in the UK used to use a tire boot on his car (peugeot 206gti) when he parked near his flat because his insurance company said it if his car gets stolen one more time he won't get coverage anymore (or anyone else for that matter  ). he turns his wheels full lock against the curb so that it makes it difficult to tamper with the boot.

taylor192 03-18-2009 06:00 AM

Respect gets respect.

If he's parked illegally then whatever happens to the car is your fault, since the owner is in the wrong to begin with. Call your insurance company if you don't believe me. Have you never seen this pic?

Whether it's a Bugatti Veyron or a Ford Pinto, breaking a city bylaw does not absolve a tow truck driver of damages he may cause when towing said vehicle. If the GTR actually WAS damaged, the owner can sue. If tow truck drivers were never held responsible for damage, then what incentive would there be for them to EVER take care not to damage a vehicle?

You say the lesson might dissuade the owner from parking illegally, true, but the punishment must fit the crime. For illegally parking in Vancouver the punishment is a fine and/or a tow NOT a tow PLUS hundreds of dollars of damage...

The picture of the BMW with the fire hose through it is a totally different scenario as it was obstructing the work of safety crews. If the GTR was obstructing a safety crew then I would have no problem with any damage that may occur to it.

You need to re-read that thread, its not...

Doesn't matter if the car is a pinto or not we are not talking bout a mere scratch this guy is going to royally fuck up the drive train here. I still say the same thing if it was a base Impreza!

!SG 03-18-2009 08:50 AM

did the OP see if the truck driver put any dollys up on the front wheels?

RedDragoon16 03-18-2009 09:27 AM

I was late meeting someone, so I didn't get a chance to see if he did or not. I highly doubt he did though because they're the same guys that I see everytime I work. They drive by right at 301pm waiting for the ticket ppl. And then they swoop in to get either front/back of the car up and they pull it to thurlow and put the lights on, secure it, and drive away.
Those busters guys just grab those cars and get out of the way bc its robson and its always busy. One time I saw one of them just back his lift under an suv's rear wheels. Without getting out of the truck he would lift it up and drive away.
If the owner of the car wants more info feel free to PM me

woozzle 03-18-2009 10:48 AM

ok to all of you saying tow truck driver should not tow it that way, what do you propose he should have done instead?

Rich Sandor 03-18-2009 11:12 AM

Next time pay attention to the fucking parking signs.

Expresso 03-18-2009 11:17 AM

on side note: do think this is the same white GTR that took in diesel fuel? lol

Simple. Flat bed or dolley on front wheel on all AWD cars

kuri 03-18-2009 01:54 PM

^ I think tow truck drivers should just make this a standard procedure for all cars and use flat beds or dolleys to make sure no wheels have contact with the road.

I don't think it's fair that they need to know the drivetrain of every single car in existance, but at the same time there's no excuse for damaging a car when the job is simply to tow it away (i.e. not to damage it).
